    The Playa station was to be right in town, but the hotels protested and it's been built quite a distance out. People trying to get from Cancun Airport to Playa will need to take a shuttle bus from the terminals to the Cancun station, and then some form of transport from the Playa station into town; thus they'll certainly continue to be better served by the direct ADO bus as it will be cheaper and faster.

  • @Mexitplans

  • @GrantMcWilliams

    @GrantMcWilliams

    The train is scheduled to be 30 min faster from the Cancun airport to the Playa station than the bus. It takes 18 min to drive from the Playa station to downtown. Timewise it's a wash from the airport. I don't know about cost yet. Now if you're coming from downtown Cancun to downtown Playa the bus is faster. Also note that the train is currently running on diesel and not electric so it's limited to 125 kph. On electric it will do 160 kph. I don't know how much of a difference that will make for such a short distance. Still, the train is about 100 times nicer to be on than a bus so even if it was slower and more expensive I'd still take it.

  • @GreggGordon

    @GreggGordon

    4 ай бұрын

    @cWilliams Will it truly be 30 minutes quicker? A lot of the bus' travel time goes to first looping through each of all 4 terminals. The shuttle bus that takes you to the train does the same loops. Does that 30 minute quicker train ride include the shuttle bus travel time? Also consider that the walk to and wait for the bus is likely equal to the wait for the shuttle bus. The train option, though, will add on transiting between the shuttle bus and train, waiting for the next train, and transiting between the train and your final transportation.

  • @GrantMcWilliams

    @@GreggGordon The train ride is 30 minutes quicker than the bus from T2 which is that last terminal the bus goes through. I used the last terminal for the bus so I was only calculating journey time, not the time driving through terminal buildings. Yes, the train is 30 minutes faster.

    Thanks Glen. The Maya Train is one of the few modes of transportation that is truly accessible. The section I was supposed to be in for seat 3A was in this section. There is a ton of room in the front of that seat to park a wheelchair and it’s designated for that. I can’t confirm whether or not the elevators are functional in the Merida station or Cancun for that matter. Also the ie tram is accessible. I have seen a passenger board the tram who must have come from the train with a wheelchair. As a note, these probably the most accessible things in Merida. The sidewalks here are horrible. There is a gentlemen who has a channel about getting around here in Merida.

    No as of 2/15/2024. This was told to me at the Nia Towers building and confirmed at the Ticket office in the Merida Station.

    I have heard that the INAPAN card gives you discount on ADO tickets. Monte can you please check if it discounts the Tren Maya tickets for residents? Great videos, they are much needed information.

    I am still thinking the same as the last video. I have no idea why this administration keeps opening projects that are not finished. Nobody's dying for waiting 2 or 3 months more, anyways it seems is getting better but far from finishing
