We have a lot of rental properties in Cancun and we just bought a gorgeous colonial house in Merida and I noted that it has solar panels and zero light bill. Thanks for the realistic calculation, something which many other channels fail miserably to provide. You're leading an upper-middle-class lifestyle there (at least as far as your accomodation goes, with the pool, staff, etc.), and that's not going to cost less than $3K a month in Merida with rent and recreation included.

Meghan and Noe, Thank You! US$1,520.00 excluding housing. It's not what I pay, it's what my money buys. You mentioned that food was priced similar to to Canada/US. Perhaps, BUT there is a huge difference between the quality of food sourced at Wal-Mart, etc, vs the local grown, NON-GMO produce and meats that is not blasted with preservatives and pesticides. Nor are the pastures treated with pesticides. That is why people that can afford to buy from Sprouts, Wholefood/WholePaycheck buy their food at those establishments.😊

Is there some assumed relationship between USD and the peso? Do you really pay your bills in us dollars? I live on and off in Mazatlan and all my bills are in pesos. The exchange rate has had a serious impact on the actual cost to me. Pre-covid I paid 24/1 and less than a year ago the peso had risen to 16.8/1. Exchange rates matter unless you are paying in USD

The effects of minimum wage laws are complex and depend on a variety of factors. It is important to weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks carefully before making any changes. In the case of Mexico, the recent increase in the minimum wage is intended to help workers keep up with the rising cost of living. However, it is possible that it could also lead to inflation, like you said. Only time will tell what the long-term effects will be 👀
