The song “First Love” by Utada Hikaru brought back so many of my youth memories. 🥰 This is my very first Japanese drama and I enjoyed watching it very much. It’s pretty short, just only 9 episodes and can be watched in a day. A heartwarming story about a love that can stand the test of time, this drama fell into comfortable and very familiar tropes, which were very charming and easy to watch. The story was well-written and flowed nicely despite a few rough areas that needed more explanation. I like how the drama was not only about romantic love but family and coming of age with the consequences of the choices each character made. The cinematography of the drama was very beautiful: color, lighting, and various snow scenes.

Takeru Satou was the main reason I watched this but dang, the young actor stole my breath away. I felt him in every scene. He captured the innocence, childishness, immaturity and recklessness of a young man in love for the very first time.

I cried many times to this series! Fantastic ending! This J-Drama TRUMPS all K-Drama i know! The issues are real.. divorce, child custody issues, mother & son relationship, porn, nudity, sacrifice, letting go & most especially the drama is on point.

Since that fateful meeting on the train, Namiki's life is all about Yae. He changed for her, chose his future career because of her. He never forget, never able to move on. A love like this is truly hard to come by 🥲

Can't stop thinking about this drama. ❤❤❤❤❤ Watch it because of Takeru Satoh but end up falling in love with Taisei Kido.

She is the only person he is willing to change for. She never pressure him for anything, embracing him just as he is.

Taisei Kido is just really good here (everyone was also excellent, but he stole my heart the most)

Oh my word...its Chinese NY holidays here in Beijing. Its winter...its 2024, I am 50yo and I hope to be posted to Japan soon. I watched this series in one day. I cried from my throat....and my phone almost went flying across the room at the end of Ep 8. The grief, insanity, bliss, irrationality, sacrifice, unconditionality and wholeheartedness of that first love is within all of us. We never forget them and THAT song punches you in the stomach each time it plays. The song also knows of the very experience of that first love. I think the series is hopeful above all else, so by the end my tears did not come from my throat but from my heart...OUT OF SHEER HAPPINESS for our capacity to love...and remember.

Hikari and Takeru, First i saw them in Bloody Monday with Haruma back in 2010. After more than a decade they did a series together.

My first J drama. So beautiful.

My favourite drama and will be always ....💜🥺 (2023 best thing)

i just finished this entire season bc of this video. it was amazing. not only did the main actor of rurounin kenshin starred in it, but Yae did a super fantastic job portraying her role. Loved it when she finally realized the flashbacks

The 1st time i saw the movie Rorouni Kenshin, Takeru Satoh really caught my heart for the 1st time, the 1st japanese actor that i admired the most and dreamed of since he is a bachelor i guess.😅 Seriously, his facial expression and the drama scene is captivating, that I can relate to. Everybody i guess experience having their 1st love...sad to say that some may end up happily ever after, some end up tragic... but this drama really gave the idea that love will always prevail and would conquer all.😊 💗💗💗

It is truly Masterpiece. Description of this drama doesnt look promising and i left it in oneof my tabs as "when nothing else to watch" series. But quality of this drama blew me away. Actors play godlike, camera work and overall composition of scènes is impressive, story is good and even side stories are captivating. 5 minute scene of sister love story had so much depth to it and was worth more than watching some other dramas. Easily 10/10 and if you didn't watch it, don't waste you time on those in important job you are doing, go watch it

Takeru first intrigued me with his movies then I've finished the series of didn't I tell you a million times it made me cry but I've cried every episodes watching till the end First love, . Damn was really good, the young version of harumichi and yae was very cute, sad and when they met again, and after she went back to where they kept the box and that made her realize that he was her first love omg. The moral lesson is very good as well... damn

I watched this drama because I love Takeru Satoh. I ended up loving all the actors and the story was beautiful. Of course the ending made it. I recommended it to friends and they also loved it. Thank you

I remember how her mom told her how they just have such bad luck with men but as you see, Yae was actually lucky. I find it funny how it was the mom who was the roadblock to their relationship and lowkey kinda led her to her “bad luck” in men.

I couldn’t agree with you more. The irony of what her mother was trying to avoid ended up being the case for her daughter. I truly believe if her mother didn’t meddle in her daughter’s life, Yae could’ve have a better life with Haumichi. But if that had happened, we wouldn’t have gotten the chance to see this wonderful drama. 😅

A good story , when it is planted in your heart the person you love , you will never forget. Touching story.

Great show with a mixture of sophististicated feelings which will leave you with a serious withdrawal symptom. Accompanied with the excellent plot, acting, music, it totally hit every deep spot in me. Watching this at this age brings back those memories. Thanks for the edit!

I have been avoiding to watch it just for the reason that I dropped the dorama. It was too painful to watch their suffering. But, Takeru Satoh has always been my #1 Japanese actor, so for his sake at least I watch your mv to finish up the drama. But now, I am gonna go back and watch it till finish. The drama deserves it. Another great drama from Japan! Taisei Kido's acting here is a miracle!

Kanchiku-san, thank you for producing the memorable script and tv drama. There are no words that can make up for the first love. The environment creates stimuli to our receptor sensory. It evokes memories of childhood love that seems to run on its own timeline. Sight: neck, lips, eyes and hair Sound: music Smell: food, shampoo, perfume and body odour. Taste: food, a packet of red Marlboro. Touch: kiss, hug and smooch.

This is one of the best edits I have ever seen. Cried like a baby at the end...

I cannot thank you enough for this edit. I already rewatched First love a couple of times already but it still make me so happy and joyful. And if there is one thing that I will never forget about this series is that, it made me feel what love is. After finishing the series the first time, that was the first thing that came out of my mouth, "Ah, so this is what love is." Great series, great acting, and with such a nostalgic song.
