Fantastically running engine, no smoking gun. It shows the NL sign under the rear light so it seem to be from the Netherlands sometimes. If it has been restored there I can promise that they always do a good job because they love old bikes, cars and antiques

I just bought one of these, a 42 WLA, waiting on registration and plates, rode it in my driveway a couple times. I had one back in the seventies, a 37 former sidecar bike WLA, with a reverse in addition to the three forward gears. It was a hoot to ride back then, and I'm really looking forward to the riding of mine this year. Always loved the flatties, pretty much bulletproof.

i think the WLC has the big twin front end with rockers on the outside as opposed to theWLA has them on the inside.

You know these bikes better than I ....on the wlc you are correct in saying there would be a stop light cut out switch below the seat....the front end is servi-car on the wlc that’s why the wheels swap out....Heavier Canadian specifications on the build....I didn’t know about the hand clutch in the wlc....I built one for a friend last year...

I found this video very informative as I am sorting out the problems on my last "from non-running to running" project. 1942 WLC. With your mechanical skills you got that 45 sounding the way I hope my WLC will sound. I know you must have an ear for how a motor should sound. I had a flathead Harley before and there is a certain sweet spot.

I now have the WLC running but haven't set the carb. Lots to do yet. Today I am checking whether the front chain oiler is set too high. The transmission seems to leak everything out over a few months, at least down to the level of the seal. But the main thing is that I didn't overpay for the bike. My parents were married in 1942 and Dad was stationed at Topcliffe airfield from 42-45 with the RCAF. Therefore it was nice to find this 42WLC.

Just discovered Ash and the episodes. So refreshing instead of all the US bullshit. Really enjoy the channel, I'm in Kent, Whereabouts is the business Ash ? I'm planning on getting a WL and would appreciate you giving it the once over once I've imported it.

Hi Craig, glad you're enjoying our stuff. We're not far from you actually - in Poling, near Arundel in West Sussex. Drop us an email stuart@rie-store.com when you're ready and Ash will have a look (and we'll make an episode out of it too!)

It's amazing to see your videos love the way of explaining the inner workings. I'm curious what's that book were you found the explanation for the springs? And what grease do you use on the WLA/WLC?
