Great overview, picked one up in open box condition on ebay for $200!

I switched like 8 years ago to FRSKY. Best decision I have taken in RC. EdgeTX and ETHOS radios are much more flexible, cheaper and less plastic look and feeling. Thanks for the video though😉

Spektrum is a rip off. So expensive and they only do one update or so the life time of the model of the transmitter. This isn't modern. Edge Tx is modern and get update every few months. You can have an old radio and still get update. Like for example original taranis. Frsky is alright but only horus which use edgetx :) to bad my x20 doesn't support Edgetx it's huge bummer. And this new spektrum radio cant compete Radio Master Tx16s mk 2

There have been like 9-10 updates to NX Airware since its launch. Several updates to IX airware as well. They get plenty of updates and feature upgrades along the way. @@rcrotorfreak

Oh well that nice. Wasn't like that way years back. But edgetx is never ending. So my radio is never out of date when it come to feature. But atleast Spektrum adding feature usually it's for fixing bugs. @@StevesRC

A lot of negative comments here on this. I recently decided to return to the hobby after a 10 year break and I gotta say I really loved the modern look of this transmitter. It looks clean and minimalist which is a plus for beginners who don't really want a very complicated transmitter. I like the white/black and orange colors. I don't get why people are so disgusted by it. I guess people in this hobby are very averse to innovation. I ordered one along with a AR630 receiver with AS3X and Safe. Hope I made a good choice!

Supposedly a budget radio, but here in New Zealand, RRP is still around NZ$700, sheessshhh

Spektrum has run its course. EdgeTX for the win! Radiomaster is far superior.

The lights on mine flicker when charging and it kind of just turns off and doesn’t want to turn on when I unplug it, do you have an idea as to what is wrong with mine?

Using a DX6 for years now... original antenna went bad ... almost totaled a plane...flat pancake crash lol...got a router antenna on it now... works great ... looking at this .

Not a fan of the white, would get dirty too quickly but looks nice 👍

Yea, to each their own. It's different for sure. A simple wipe down here and there and it will look like new. Makes you think just how dirty your radio can get if you don't clean it normally.

Nah mine hasn’t gotten dirty at all with plenty of use. It’s easy to wipe and clean.

🦘🐨 i had a dx 9 for a few years.. then the roller wheel collapsed. has this been addressed in the new radios. Keith Australia 🇦🇺

Never seen that issue be a major issue, I'm not sure we've done anything to improve them above what they were in your DX9. That said, I personally own several roller spektrum radios and never have I seen an issue. But anything is possible.

I was interested but you gotta send it in for a loose switch? Knowing spektrum they probably made it impossible to take apart too.

Its not impossible but its also very unlikely for a switch to loosen up either.

I want to get in the hobby and wanna start with some blade bnf helicopters. I can get a DX6 for a nice price. Is that enought for the bnf heli's so i can use safe and panic button or do i need 7 channels?

@@StevesRC its all Horizon Hobby the site issues have been going on for way to long, but I reported a issue with the dx5c and the Losi Promoto you have the modes backwards wheelie is dirt and dirt is wheelie dont know how they screwed that up. Just got my NX7 today hopefully no glitches with this

Or you can spend $30 less and buy a FrSky X18. So save money and :: -You get hall effect gimbals -You get voice alerts -You get full programming power to whatever you want or will grow into -You get switch assignability -You get a touch screen -You get way more switches and sliders -You get a bigger battery -You get a dual diversity antenna (2.4ghz and 900mhz) -You get rubber grips and probably even more that I don't know about. The main negative (well, not a negative to me) is that you can't bind to eflite toys. Basically for $299, this NX7e is a completely overpriced for features by a long shot, this radio shouldn't even be a penny over $150 for what you are getting.

You certainly could. But not having BNF compatibility pretty much kills that for a lot of folks. Not to mention the headache of trying to program open source stuff. As a side note, you can assign the switches in this radio (you mention you get that with FRSKY). Additionally, you get the support in the field from over 200 team pilots, and the backing of Horizon's product support team.

To be fair this is a lower cost radio in the line and you can still use it to bind to any other spektrum radio with wireless trainer. It just can’t be used as the master radio without the RX.

Sounds like just a satellite RX is needed, I have loads laying around as do many people flying spektrum. They're not that expensive anyway and as this is a budget radio you've already saved money. Who buys a radio based off it's buddy box capability anyway?!
