This series really shows how much teachers take out of their own pocket to make sure their students have everything they need and feel comfortable in their environment. It just sucks that teachers are way underpaid.

Last year was my first year teaching. My room was bare and we also have to supply the majority of what we use in the classroom. Chart paper and basic supplies really add up! I have found some really good deals on schoolspecialty.com for chart paper and sentence strips etc. Also- do not be afraid to ask for supplies for parents! On our open house I make a donation board with sticky notes. I write things like expo markers, card stock, printer paper, crayons etc. I basically just mention it and parents were eager to buy things for the classroom.

I am 55 and you are making me want to go back and get a teaching degree. I played teacher every day growing up and my dad was my elementary school principal. I loved it so much. I am so jealous! You are precious and are delightful to watch. I showed your vlogs to my dad who is retired now, obviously, and he said he'd have hired you on the spot because you are just the type of teacher that he used to look for - creative, ready to go, still learning new things. Also - just a little bit of info. - my dad was one of the original creators of the Gifted and Talented program from the 70's. He has written many things on it and has writtem many curriculums for many, many schools. You are a joy to watch! Best of luck this year to you and yiour campers!!!

For your bulletin board, you could use one for classroom rules/ expectations. Have a discussion with your class on the first day about what the rules should be and then have them create posters or something similar to illustrate the ideas. This would be meaningful for them. You have way more patience than me! I don't understand why they are all tricky to use at first! But you'll get the hang of it! I just bought a smaller one for my classroom, just to have on hand 🤣

Mrs. Call's Campers flexible seating rules would be great! You could take pics of the kids using the stuff appropriately vs. inappropriately! And yes they have smaller ones! I got one at Lowes and it uses staples that are just a tiny bit larger than office size staples! I for it for a tricky bulletin board in the hallway.

You may have to budget and slowly buy up charts and markers - but just buy a little here and there and you'll be fine. Your interactive board is right next to your library, yes? Do a "What I'm Reading" board for the kids.

My 1st grade teacher had this system (hers was fishing themed but you could really do whatever) where if you did something nice or good, you got a slip of paper that fit with the theme to put your name on. Then at the end of the week she would pick 3 and those people would get a prize! I thought it was fun and a good way to reward kindness:)

I'm an 8th grade student who loves organizing rearranging things like this, and I absolutely love these types of videos no matter who it is. I want to be a teacher for Elementary School, but don't really know what grade probably third but I don't know yet. For one of the bulletin boards you should do a birthday wall, or my Elementary School used to do star student where you pick students name out of a hat and they were the student of the week. They would bring something in from home every day and share it with the class. Most of the time everyone got to turn and it only took like 5 minutes at the end of the day

I am 15 learned how to use a staple gun at 14 by myself no help just messing with it. I was able to do it in like a minute. I had to use one to fix my wooden locker shelf and used one to my make a bulletin board when I was like 12. Wanted to help you so badly. My aunt says I am the master at Pinterest. Like a present is the correct way. Love your videos!!!❤️

Staple guns can be terrifying I totally relate! Funny story, when I was an RA in college a few years ago I was trying to hang up a bulletin board and I found the staple gun - having never used one before I am lucky I didn't shoot a staple through my hand!!! I had no idea what I was doing because I tried to use it to hang the bulletin board and I was so shocked by the power behind a staple gun hahaha. I was a little nervous for you when you were trying to get it working but I am so glad everything worked out! :) You inspired me to want to make crate seats for my kiddos because I had never realized how simple and easy it could be! I went ahead and saved this video so I will know what to do when I go to make them later next year. I am glad to have found your channel!

You've crossed the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to The Netherlands! I just wanted to say that I look forward to your videos. For your interactive bulletin board, maybe you could relate it to the library. For example 'our book recommendations'. And have your students recommend books to. Each other. (sorry for any mistakes, English is not my 1st language)

I was thinking for the bulletin board by your library it could be like a “what are you reading board”. The kids can write down the book they’re reading at the moment and a sentence or two on why they like it

My son is going into first grade ( he didnt go to preschool and he is now 6yrs old) and in kinder he had a hard time hearing he eventually got ear tubes and can hear better now but not hearing caused a speech problem and has affected him from keeping up with the other kids in class. I am concerned on how he will handle first grade when he still is in speech learning how to sound certain letters out right but he also hasnt been able to write at the level hes suppose to be at. What do you do in those cases? When some students are more behind than others and are having a hard time keeping up #askmrscall

Hi! I'm a teacher also and have been enjoying your videos. I teach fourth graders and one thing I have noticed is that many of them don't know nursery rhymes (Mother Goose). Perhaps, instead of a quote, you could put a rhyme up for students to do a quick fluency activity. You could also do short poems. Enjoy setting up your classroom. I'm waiting until next week because we could leave our bulletin boards up during the summer, so I covered them with painters plastic. I hope you have a fantastic year!
