This is the first working VTOL RC harrier I've seen on KZread. There's others but they're mostly show and VTOL doesn't work it just hovers around or flies normally.
This is next level RC engineering. Seeing this has got me thinking of the possibilities of making actual RC versions of the 'anti-grav' racers in the computer game 'Wipeout'
Can't wait to see the 105mm STOVL and VTOL harriers fly - very exciting !

Yes! The larger the better because you can make up for the miniaturization limits. The receiver, telemetry, servos can stay the same mass, but the fraction of the total mass goes way down.
Brilliant builder but I would suggest most don’t appreciate also how good your flying skills are - absolutely brilliant, well done 👏

Have you comsidered mounting the camera inside the cockpit and an exterior rear view mirrror you'll impove aerodinamics and get Front and Rear views on the same camera.

Great video.
16:20 really helped a lot. I can finlly know where to put electronics. Why the su-X has slats and harrier has flaps?
@renerosentraeger
Жыл бұрын
It's aerodynamically caused I'll explain it in detail in one of the next videos 🎬✌️
@beb0p858
Жыл бұрын
The short version is that slats improve high angle of attack flying like in high alpha. It allows faster air to go over the wing at slow speeds. Where as flaps improve slow flying in more neutral attack angles.

Excellent!
Super 👍
fantastic !!
Awesome. Impressive. My only question is How did you get the gyro gains correct?
For the hover have you consider using bleed air from EDF or just 1 smaller EDF through ducts to control the model by opening and closing valves controlled by links taken off of the main flying controls like the full size aircraft rather then using a lot of fans. If this is possible your weight saving would be quite a lot.
@TheRMRCchannel
Жыл бұрын
The main fans are not powerful enough to do such a thing, if so it would of been done by now
When are you going to do a video on setting up the VTOL version?? I have mine built and waiting for details how to set up the electrics, been waiting ages
Rene, I take it that the VTOL project Sea Harrier is coming with radio and gyro programming tutorial?
That's so cool! Great job! This is really impressive. What system/motor are you using to retract the landing gear?
@renerosentraeger
Жыл бұрын
25g and 40g retracts.
Hi Rene, finished printing my STOL Harrier and now comes assembly time. What angles of the nozzels did you conclude with? I think with the STOL settings we wouldn't need the expensive Hitec swivel servo's (as less angle needed)?

I don't know if this is of your knowledge but you can study more about the harrier in DCS and you can have free manual on how to operate it, either from them or in chucks guides(one of the best) this may help you a lot with this project! I would love to see this doing VTOL action besides the STOL. Keep up the good work!

@@renerosentraeger yeah a big part of the takeoff is starting at 0 degrees then rotate at "lift off speed" sort of stuff could be super helpful. And its just a blast to fy in DCS too :D love your model looks fun!
Nunca fazem uma decolagem vertical como o verdadeiro Harrier
Hi Rene, Would it not be more efficient to use a 12S setup for the 105mm EDF? At the moment you had it peaking at 3000Watts with 130A. Using a 12S for the same power, would require probably ca. 60A (a little lest then half, due to less thermal waste), which would allow using a very tiny ESC. I use T-motor flame 60A (80A for up to 10seconds, according to specs) in most of my planes, which is only 73 grams.

Does it do VTOL?
Can it also do hovering and a vertical take off?

So you are using CR printers, what do you think of the new 12x speed cr printers ?

Is it lighter than a foam plane?
