We are a family of four living on the island Andøya above the polar circle in Northern Norway.
In this video, you will see a little bit of our life during the dark winter.
We are very happy that we could finally attach our Italian Wood Stove oven from Theromorossi named Margarita. We show you the whole process of installing the woodstove and the attachment of the tiles behind the oven.

As a musician, songwriter, and filmmaker, Carmijn has held a long-cherished dream of living in the heart of nature. “For me nature is magical. It's healing and creates a feeling of total freedom. A feeling of peace. When I’m surrounded by big mountains and long rivers, I feel free. The sunlight on my skin, swimming in the cold water. When I close my eyes, words and melodies arise. “
In the spring of 2022, she moved with her partner and son from her native Netherlands to the North of Norway. Between tall mountains, long rivers, and endless forests, she quickly learned living in nature is both hard work and awe-inspiring.
For Carmijn, Red Leaf Hill is as much about sharing as it is expressing, through her own means and by seeking out collaborators who travel a similar wavelength. On her KZread channel, she’s garnered a steady following in her journeys across the Norwegian wilderness. To be an open book, where struggle, joy, fear, and courage are laid bare for all to see. Lovely! I renovated/ built our home and it was one of the most satisfying achievements. I'm 72 now, and that was back in the late ,70s, early '80s.Your home will always be very special to you, because it was done by you!!!

Thank you for your comment! So nice to hear. Sometimes it is hard because it goes so slow.. but I think also in the end it will be worth it. We were also thinking how would it be when you pay workers to fix everything? Then we will live in the house already but now we put our heart into it! also nice for later for the kids.. There is nothing warmer than a wood fired heater or cook stove. No electric device can compare to the warmth you get from either. Bless your new home and all the best of the new year to you and your family...

Renovating a house can be very challenging, you have come very far and its achievable with a strong will which you have 🙏, luckily it's easy to work with wood and actually quite fun building.

I usualy listen some Deva Premal music in the morning to meditate but i found your videos are so perfect to start the mediative morning. Love the musjc, love the Norwegian landscapes and your farmland. I have this reaction when you show your kids to great them at loud in spanish as a grandfather i am telling them how beautiful and gorgeous they are and how loving both of you are showing full love for your children. Here in America we used to have a really great called the Kitchen Queen. But they stopped producing it a couple years back. A friend of mine found one in an Amish shop. That was three years ago. I haven’t heard of any since then. Yours look like it is also well made. I hoped it also cooks good for you too. Good luck. Later

What a lovely blog, I could see you are an artist and a filmmaker, and the quality of the filming is so top notch and even the music. I live in southern Norway, but I wondered if it was in Lofoten, close to my friends. Good luck with everything, and I am looking forward to new videos.
