First Earth Day 1970 Van Nuys Jr. High School
I participated in the first Earth Day in 1970, at Van Nuys Junior High School. We put on our own fair on campus, with a wide variety of booths - from chemical experiments with pollutants to fresh fruit to save-the-whales to a giant bag of air. This was recorded in Super-8, with no sound. My cinematic skills were not developed, to say the least. But hopefully you can catch a glimpse of what it was like on that historic day.

Wow! Great footage! I graduated in 1974 from there. Great teachers and an exciting time. Some great teachers: Mr. Bland, p.e.; Mr. Linz, metal shop; Mrs. Alsberg, drama; Mrs. Teague, English.
I remember this! I had to move a few months later and my life changed so much--I missed everyone! If anyone remembers Amy Baldwin, Dana Lebow, Roberta Silver and more, get in touch. Thanks for this.

Roberta Silver is my sister. She is a massage therapist in Boulder Colorado.
I graduated in 1994 in this school and this is an awesome historical footage here. I tried to imagine myself being in that school in 1970 for the fun out of it as a different experience.
I graduate in 2011 and i think it looks the same since i left but you guys didn't have benches and it looks way better now
