I’m 19 and I’ve always been scared of driving. I’ve started practicing using the brake petal just a little and being able to make small turns in an empty school parking lot when no one’s around since I worry about people watching me. Driving is something I’ve never wanted to do because I’ve always been scared of it but I’ve realized it’s something that we all have to do when the time comes because without having the ability to drive, you will not be able to have independence or have any freedom in this life or even make anything of yourself. So, to anyone who is in my shoes right now the best thing to do is not stress, ask questions, and just practice one step at a time!

Omg I feel the same way. I have kids and it's so hard not being able to drive... Depending on everyone to help me go places . I live in NYC so we have a great transportation system but if I want to travel far away to nice places, I need a ride and it's difficult

This comment is for all anxious or nervous people. I watched this video 1 week before my driver test, I was super scared like a lot of the comments I’ve seen here, even though I drove a bit before that to practice, I felt like I was gonna cause an accident considering how high my heart would beat and tremble. I came to tell that after 3-4 years of watching these videos, I finally drive perfectly with no worries at all and I’ll share what helped me. My number 1 tip (and for those who can’t “center” their cars) is to look ahead of the road. Look ahead on the floor of the lane you’re into and it’ll help your eyes and mind how to center the car, another thing, the pedal where you accelerate is at the center of the car, so technically that can be also a factor of how to center the car. 2. If you’re scared hit the bumber cuz you don’t know how far or close you are, I’d “study” beforehand the front of the car to see how long it is (if it makes sense) so that i know approximately how long is the front 3. Start with little traffic roads, then heavy ones 4. Invite someone you trust that can help calm your anxiety or being nervous 5. Do maintain a lot of space infront of you, don’t be too close of the front car (for those who are scared to have an accident) 6. A lot of drivers are very aware and sometimes it helps me calm that thought that they would also make sure there’ll be no accidents for them nor you 7. Considering my bad anxiety, i look 3-4 times before changing lanes all mirrors. And if it’s night, do also slow down when there’s green lights and check all the lanes around you to see if there’s any cars (sometimes people don’t stop at red light at nightime so please be very aware at the stop lights at night) 8. Please PLEASE don’t text while driving, and if you are at stoplight, you can use your phone but please be aware of your surroundings too (and be aware while driving too) cause you never know if someone wants to harm you or a car is about to hit or block you. Also, please use yellow signals go warn the car behind you if you’re going left or right I literally came to this video cause I feel It’ll be nice to update to the people who were same position as me and to tell that it is possible for y’all to drive. I do still sometimes have anxiety while driving, so I put music. And so far, I had no accidents at all and I’ve driven 2 cars. I hope this comment helps to those people like me cause I feel for y’all and I believe y’all can do it ✨

I'm 17 and I feel you 1000%. I know you're like "you're 17 you have time". I'm about to go to college and I'm commuting so driving is a necessity. But like you said my anxiety is at an all time high when it comes to driving. And what make it worse is seeing everyone do something you can't so I wish you and everyone else who deals with this the best of luck! WE WILL PROSPER!🙌🏾

He really does give all of the absolute basics and doesn't assume anything, and he is easy to understand, clear, and polite Great tutorial honestly!

I love how basic this is, it’s not like he is assuming you know what the shift lever is and how it works he shows you and explains every little thing.

I failed twice because of my high anxiety. I quickly change my mind and decided to hire and paid a professional private and license Dmv agent that help me bypass the text drive and got me a provisional driver license. I'm good with that because it has no limitation just like any other license. If you failed and haven’t gotten your license yet, it’s okay. No rush takes your time and if you fail you can always try again. Trust I was down in the dumps, and I had a stressful year losing my dad, working, and taking care of my grandma. You guys got this!!!

Such a great tutorial! He forgot to mention adjusting the rearview mirrors though. The mirror in front of the car that sits over your head as you drive needs to be adjusted so that you can see everyone in back of you from the car's back window. And the side mirrors should be adjusted so that you can see all the cars coming from behind and on the side of the car. Near the steering wheel there is a switch labeled L and R with arrow buttons. Make sure to adjust it so that the car's handle is in the very inner corner of the mirror and you can see the backsides of the car. Hope this helped those who were wondering!

Carloz you shouldn't learn driving from your parents or anyone who isn't a professional, well maybe except for the basics or whatever. But if the person really knows how to drive then learn from them. Just my opinion, do whatever you who am I giving you advise?

@@enaz_3116 You have no idea. I've let it get so bad that I didn't take driving lessons until I was 27. I don't know anyone with a licence (anxiety runs in the family LOL) so I had to pay for lessons. I was terrified the whole time. After only 7 lessons and not even being shown how to park, he said I was ready for my driving test. I actually passed it somehow but then because I had so little practice on the road, I was too afraid to actually drive my car so it sat in the garage and the battery died LOL. I had the car revived yesterday and I am going back to professional driving lessons again in about 30 minutes, but I feel so stupid and of course, I am terrified.

This is awesome, I've been driving for 8 years but I'm about to teach a friend to drive and the way he describes things is perfect for how I'm going to need to describe things

I’m 13 yrs old I learn everything from you and also by my self sometimes I’ll tell my mum if I can move it backwards she’ll say no but when I’m with my cousins they let me move it and they say I’m really good at it.. thanks for the teachings I needed more teachings anyways❤❤ God bless

This was the best lesson on KZread I've found I live in california and at 27 years old I'm hoping to pass my knowledge test then pratice with what you've taught us and I'll watch this a bunch of times to get it locked in my mind so that I'll remember not only you have really helped my anxiety with driving thank you so much!

Just watching these videos the tears of anxiety start rolling. I'm not scared I will crash but I'm such an incredibly slow learner I need things repeated. Anyone who teaches me looks at me like I'm dumb and my memory is very bad. I watched the first 2 minutes on reply and am trying to remember it by heart so I can eventually translate the rules to my car in a few days. Gor some reason also not knowing the names of certain parts of a car is scary too. I just was never exposed to that growing up and it's so kindhearted to upload something like this. But I try to remember that videos like exist like this so I can play back and open up the video as often as I want whenever I want. I know I will drive great one day but the beginning is so hard. Thank you! Even tho I am anxious you are a dear to listen to and I don't feel any pressure at all. Thank you!

I’m 14 and my dad is teaching me how to drive I drove 2 times on a road with not a lot of cars and I done fine but I can get better

i’m getting my learners permit in less than two months and i have been watching so many videos cos of how scared i am. i have had lots of car trauma in the past and have had uncertain feelings about driving but this video has honestly made me feel so much better about it

Thank you for this detailed information.You are an excellent teacher. Memorizing the functions and how to manipulate these parts of the car in front of me surely lessen the anxiety and insecurity of driving.

That’s me. I took my lessons up to the end of “phase 2” never been driving. my classes had been postponed and than covid hit and we closed our schools in march , so my lessons had stopped. This was last year… I’m doing my lessons again and i’m driving for the first time ever today , and i’m so nervous 😬

Thanks a million for this video and the others you have. I have PTSD stemming from my father receiving fatal injuries from a car about 7 years ago. I'm currently 20 and I really need to learn to drive and your videos are helping me keep calm. I even drove down my neighborhood today, and while it was terrifying I'm glad I did it. Thank you.
