My deepest condolences to Evie on the passing of her father. I’m grateful that he was such a good role model for you Stephen, and likely for your kids as well. It sounds like he was an incredible man that this world was blessed to have.

The fact that she thought it might have been inappropriate to talk about her father's passing in a segment on Father's Day, breaks my heart. When you've lost someone you held so near and dear to your heart, you want the whole world to know what they've lost because it doesn't stop spinning even if yours does. The way that Stephen responded to it is exactly perfect, enhancing the message of "you lost a great person, world" but showing it through the lens of your personal experiences with them. I honestly struggled a lot to hold back tears and I can't believe Evie was able to. What a remarkable couple of people. ❤

Evie's inclusion on the Late Show for First Drafts is like on of the best happy accidents out of COVID lockdown and restrictions. I'm glad they continued it. She's so great, and seeing Stephen and Evie together is so funny and touching each time.

i look forward to first drafts every holiday. stephen and evie are so cute together!

My dad passed away due to cancer a few months ago so it actually means a lot that Evie mentioned her late father and focused on all those who have passed.

It never ceases to encourage my heart, seeing Evie and Stephen together. There is still some light left in the world. Blessings to you both, and prayers for your grieving hearts.

Evie-ry time Evie appears it reminds me that Evie is the best thing to happen to Stephen. F getting The Daily Show or The Colbert Report or The Late Show -- Evie is the greatest gift of all. EDIT: Hot-diggety-damn I commented before the real. I mean I already said Evie is the greatest gift of them all, but that was for Stephen -- I lost an Uncle right around five weeks ago and, imagine that, Evie just put everything in perspective.

It’s always a special occasion when Evie is on! My condolences for the loss of your father. I can’t imagine how hard that was for you to do that segment. I lost my parents 20 years ago and I echo Stephen’s sentiments about Evie’s dad. I too had a wonderful, loving and very special father-in-law who passed two years ago. Thankfully, I still have my wonderful mother-in-law in my life!

That was truly wonderful and moving. There is so much to love in this segment. Also, the exchange at the end when she apologized and he basically said, that he was proud that she spoke up was truly moving.

I remember for Mother's Day I did not see a "First Draft" and I was like where is Evie and when she said her father passed, I was oh my that why she was not on for Mother's Day. Evie am so sorry for your loss and I will pray for your mom and your family. You can tell Steven was hoping she would not cry, I think he would have cried if she did, I love these two. The loss of a parent at any age hurts a great deal and it can be extremely difficult. Having a supportive friend or in Evie's case a supportive partner makes a big difference in the grieving process.

I still aim to attend a taping of a show where they do first drafts just to see the stuff that they end up cutting for time and to see this magic in person. Because that's what any segment with Evie is. Pure magic and love. My condolences to Evie on the passing of her father.
