Some people have gotten hurt getting off a bus or even pt on the first day there. Ive seen it. I did Basic and AIT in Fort Sill and was stationed there too.

The worst part of reception is that there's no real limit on how long they can keep you there, and it doesn't count toward anything.

I did basic and AIT there in 1992. It looks so much different now. We had old wooden buildings then during reception. And there was a lot more screaming.

Mitchell Wadsworth Ooh, I see. Unfortunately I cannot join I don't think due to depression in my teens like 10 years ago. I have never received a speeding ticket, don't use drugs or alcohol, do not smoke and am physically healthy. I went to sign up like 5 years ago but I was told no then called again and asked if I was still interested. I already graduated from college also. Maybe in the future if they DESPERATELY need me as an alternative I may join. :D I like how straight to the point they are and how they whip out the hesitation in people and the individuality so things get done right as a team. I always loved that because at school and work people always hesitate when working together and in the army they force you to hurry up and be efficient as a team. If there was an evacuation in the civilian world people would take their time and have no plan of action unless there was a military person or police officer conducting the evacuation. Maybe some confident people that can take leadership but still. My brain already functions in a save time ,act quick, be efficient and tactful type of way.

My Daughter Starts BCT beginning of January 2018, so very proud of her and wish her the best at Fort Sill !!

Just about to ship out myself! Very excited! Can't wait!

I was at Bennington in late ‘92 and what a S hole it was. I think I still have clay in my crack to this day.

This is in Fort Sill, Oklahoma where I went Basic Training and graduated from Charle 1/31 FA. Oh the good times👌🏽✊️

Seems things have changed since I went through basic in 1997. This place is laid back!!

I was there in '95. Either they have calmed way the hell down or they are being "nice" for the camera. It was hell when I was there and there were no female recruits there at that time.

I remember being their , I was stuck their for at least a month

My dad went to fort sill and we been living and Lawton ever since then

Man the really revamped that reception area. I went in 2012 and we were using porta johns that were cleaned probably once a weak. Like there was so much piss in there it was flooding up the urinal and was like inches away from your ass if you for what ever reason were brave enough to take a shit in there.

i hated 30th ag at benning with a passion. Also why is it that every army video has some nice lady talking in the background it's just reception but once you go on to training it's no walk in the park at all.

I went to that purgatory too. It seems this alot nicer than 30th lol I remember Drill Sergeants screaming at us and the Reception staff being rude as hell. Pissed me off being chewed out by some fat civilian worker because I didn't come up to their desk fast enough.

New kids coming in to active duty are hard to deal with. No motivation from any of them, or straight up lazy soldiers stuck playing on their phones. Some of them get easily offended when they are told to get back to work, one cried racism. One guy who I was told to watch over was late for formations 3 times a week. He would rather talk on his cell phone all day, than turn wrenches as he was told to do. One cried in my car and threatened to go awol because we keep yelling at him for not doing his job and being late. The military downsized for a reason and it was to weed out these folks I mentioned.

Dam the army has this problem to I'm studying for the asvab test to join the Navy and I hear the same story from a navy diver if the Navy doesn't work out for me I'll join the army but you won't catch me with my phone out I'll just ask hey can I have a few moments to call my mom to tell her how I'm doing then hang up but im pissed about these kids and electronics I do own a tablet and a phone but barely use it
