First Class on LAOS-CHINA Bullet Train 🇱🇦 (stopped by security)

Let's GO. The LAOS-CHINA bullet train from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang. Easily the quietest First Class Train Journey we have had, it seems most people pay for second class! The strictest staff we have ever seen and some very odd rules....

This is from laos website: we have travelled this exact route last year Items prohibited from being carried by passengers into the stations or on trains are: 1) Weapons and ammunition of any kind such as pistols, rifles, sports rifles and other modified guns. (The rule does not apply to civil servants, police officers and soldiers. 2) All kinds of explosives such as fireworks and rocket-propelled grenades. 3) Chemicals, including hydrogen, methane, ethane, butane, ethylene, propylene, acetylene, carbon monoxide, liquefied petroleum gas, fluoride, oxygen (except for medical purposes), gasoline, diesel and kerosene. 4) Drugs of all kinds, including heroin, ephedrine, crystal meth, cocaine and marijuana. 5) Sharp objects such as knives, axes, cutters, etc. that can cause injury or death. 6) Animals, both alive and dead, including cats and dogs. 7) Food that smells bad or watery food that can cause uncleanliness and dirty the surroundings of the train or stations. 8) Aerosol cans

You got to love that bullet train. Just built a few years ago by the Chinese. Shortly after we got to ride it. Hope you enjoyed the ride. And yes security is tight, you have to be careful what you bring on board. No sharp objects or sprays. Not allowing you to cross the yellow line is for your safety, not some so-called strange Chinese rule. Some high-speed trains run longer distances and do not stop at this station, so they will pass through this platform at normal speed. If you know basic physics, because of air pressure, high-speed trains will suck people close to both sides in, threatening personal safety. The yellow line can ensure a safe distance, so if you cross the yellow line, the staff will look at you. I have watched many of your videos, and you have never taken such a fast train. The extremely slow trains in India do not need this kind of yellow line protection, so I can understand why you feel strange. Have fun!

Had a weird experience with airport security in Australia. Hobart airport was more relaxed with nail clippers, but melbourne airport was strict..... Probs depends on locales as well.... Guess because the high speed rail is run by China, rules would have to be strict. But i do find it waste of time doing both china and lao formalities it at the actual border (forgot the name of the border village or whatnot), rather than do exit formalities in kumming and arrival formalities in vientane or whatever.

I know this is going to make me even more determined to plan a return visit to LP! The four nights I spent there last October just wasn't long enough. I had heard that scissors and aerosols weren't allowed on the bullet train. You wouldn't of course be allowed scissors in your cabin baggage on a plane as it would mean you would have access to them during the flight, and could use them as a weapon. I suppose they're thinking along the same lines on the train, but the whole aerosol thing is a bit odd. Maybe they're thinking you could spray them in someone's eyes? Who knows, but it does seem a bit over cautious! Anyway, looking forward to the next episode my fellow Londoners! 😊

You should have checked what you are not allowed to bring on the high-speed train when you booked your tickets. There is clear information on the website, there are signs outside the station to remind you, and there are clear signs at the security checkpoint. The security officer was just following the rules. In fact, he was very nice and kind. The border between Laos, Thailand and Myanmar is one of the most dangerous places in the world. There are local armed forces and drug trafficking organizations ready to launch attacks at any time. The actions of these security officers to protect your safety were actually described by you as unreasonable and arrogant. You also call this North Korean security. You should go to North Korea to experience what their security check is like. It is your fault for not checking the information about prohibited items in advance. Don't blame the security officers.

It appears Laos High Speed train has attracted good number of passengers. It's built largely with Chinese money but Laos cannot afford to pay back and is in debt to China to the tune of some 9 billion dollars so that railway is operated by China for up to 50 years before Laos can take over. Tickets and revenues belong to China for now.

  • @karaki369

Only the railway revenue will belong to China for a period of time. The tourism revenue brought by this railway is huge, including hotels, restaurants, transportation, tickets, etc., which will bring considerable benefits to Laos. In addition, the north-south transportation in Laos has also been opened up, the cities are more closely connected, and many new jobs can be created in the manufacturing and service industries. This is a win-win deal.

On planes you can bring scissors or spray by putting them in your luggages because the luggages are separated from you while flying, but for the train the luggages are with you throughout the journey that's why they are not allowed; anyways it's just security reason and this is just my opinion. Please enjoy your trips, i like watching your videos, keep on such amazing journey

Thanks so much for watching! Yes we agree totally, however it’s the first time on a train this has ever happened and we always travel with scissors & hairspray 🥹🥹

@@dabbleandtravel I know your feeling, back to my travelling time I also found that situation, it's mixed with strange and confused feeling 😕. I like the way you both react which fully enjoy yourself while incredibly show a respect to locals; this is for me you become more and more adorable,. Sorry for my poor and broken English, it can't fully express my sincere admiration to your wonderful journey. Please enjoy your trips 😊, and back to home safe and sound.

Typical Communist overreach. Makes no sense. Lived in both China and Laos and China could be very frustrating.

The trains in Laos is run by the Chinese, it’s not in the benefit of the people of Laos due the corrupt government 😢
