MY SAMPLE PACK to help support the channel

A few comments on my previous video ‘BEST CHEAP SAMPLER? Zoom Sampletrak ST-224 Review and Tutorial’ suggested I at least try make a beat with it, so here it is. I gave it my best shot but I still stand by the statement that the sequencer sucks lol but who knows, my opinion might change with time.
I plan on making Lo-Fi beat videos a regular thing on the channel, I have a PO-33 K.O! by Teenage Engineering and an AKAI MPC2000 XL which will also be making appearance on the channel soon so look out for those.
I also forgot to mention the vocal one shot is from my free pack, check that out if you're interested.

    Ok, on further reflection, maybe I'm lucky I haven't relied much on the sequencer. My own habit is to use autosync to get my loops to play nicely together, then play it all on the pads. Every time I do use the sequencer, it does get pretty painful (not sure where it falls on the Marley-and-Me scale, as I haven't seen it). Then again, my way is pretty time-consuming as well...

    @@expansionclub you know whats mad about you realising the playlist thing from me? I have been looking at your workflow in your vids and thinking "damn I need to get my workflow set up like that" hahaha thats why I shouted you out! So its funny we are both helping each other develop a system because like you said, it can get pretty painful lol And honestly im really glad you agree because if you came on here and said it was easy then I would be super jealous😂😂 but yea dude stay in touch! I think if we put our brains together we can push the sampletrak to its max and make some sick beats💪

    Hey! I'm curious how you're using the external sequencer. I heard that you can only trigger pads in gate mode through midi... are you using a sequencer that triggers each pad for the right amount of time? Your beats sound ✨✨

    I used to sequence entire beats with verse and hooks on the Zoom. Resampled sequences retriggered throughout 1 long sequence. Coming from a daw probably tough but in the early 2000s I learned it front to back, and had a blast.

  • @drewgrit_

    Wow massive respect to you my friend, I couldnt even imagine trying to make a full song with resampling on the sampletrak. That sounds like a lot of effort but at the same time I can envision how it could actually work quite well. Maybe ill give it a go, thanks for the wild idea dude haha

    @@drewgrit_ Yeah lots of trial and error. There were no tutorials or anything back then so it was just what I was able to grasp from the manual and picking up my own tips and tricks that we’re not in the manual mostly by myself. The trick to recording resampled sequences is to set quantize very low so that all of your sequences trigger on time. When making the initial sequence set the bpm to double ie. 90bpm=180. Then the swing is buttery 👍 Also for me the internal memory being low pushed me towards 2 bar loops.

  • @drewgrit_

    @drewgrit_

    Жыл бұрын

    Thats a good point, the lack of tutorials back in the day would have pushed you to use your brain more and come up with your own techniques, I love that! Also I get what you mean about the manual, its very small and straightforward, it doesnt go into anything crazy. Very self explanatory and reminds me of Ikea instructions tbh😂 and thank you for the bpm tip, thats actually genius. Youre a legend my friend honestly💪

    Yeaaaah! Been waiting for this! Deffo seems stronger at processing than beat making. Seems like have to do a lot of work arounds much like the 404sx and resampling different volumes and end points for velocity etc. Cool beat though and big ups for your sample source ;)

  • @drewgrit_

    @drewgrit_

    Yea man 100%, you’ve hit the nail on the head there. Hoping to discover the right workarounds for me which I’m sure is going to take a lot of trial and error lol And cheers bruh, quite happy with the beat for a first attempt. @@drewgrit_ can be frustrating i'm sure! But as you said in your video- when you figure out your own work flow you will be much quicker and more efficient. Still probably limited but hey that can spark new ideas! For a first attempt it's boss! Does the sampletrack have a compressor btw?? Still a cool addition to your over all set up either way! And yeah I got my sample source from there today 😆

  • @drewgrit_

    @drewgrit_

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@murmur8360 yea it does have a compressor and I actually quite like it, it might just be making it louder but it sounds fat sometimes haha only issue with that is, if I want to use compressor and reverb for example, I can only use one at a time so I would have to resample and then add the reverb. Not ideal but not the end of the world either😂 Also I know you’ve been killing it with the beats on ig on the regular but start uploading them to KZread too bruh, people will be into it for sure💪
