Glazer looks fun on those waves! Even though you said it felt out of control it just looked fun and more vertical. Would like to see the dominator in better waves as could see some potential in a few turns. Thanks for videos and reviews in more realistic day to day waves!

you really surf the seaside and the Glazer Well. Im thinking of picking up a Seaside for those small mushy days. Just looks like the speed is effortless...

The more surf footage the better. Looks like both the HS Misc and FW Dominator really need speed to perform maneuvers. Looks like you're having fun regardless. Motivates me to get better. Looking forward to more vids!

if i can get enough footage, I am going to try and put the seaside and the glazer side by side slow. hard to get similar waves though.

I think the glazer is a clear winner in these waves. I'm looking at all three of these boards as a step up to my go fish so good to see how each board goes in the same type of waves ridden by the same person. I favour small boards but worry about the 5'3 glazer feeling too floaty. 27.5l is my go-to volume at 5'9 and 67kg and in a 4/3 suit most the year.

I personally think it is too short. At least for a proper step up. I have been testing longer boards at 5'6 and up and they look better on film when doing maneuvers. At least on bigger waves. Jury is not out quite on longer but I plan on reviewing a few boards very soon.

I had the MISC and at first it was hard for me to pop up and I've been surfing for 5 years so I know it wasn't because I lacked skills. But once you get used to it it actually flies, really fast board. 2+1 fin set up from captain fins is recommended for a better performance.

For me it lacked drive in the smaller stuff. Although I did surf it with smaller (M) fins. I'd be curious how it would go with my NVS Knox 2+1. This is why I hate selling boards. You can't go back and try out new variables. :(

I'm kinda diggin you on the Glazer but I think you should give the Dom 2.0 a few more tries. Seems like you either got cut off or the wave didn't really line up when you were on the Dom 2.0..... but you had great projection outta those bottom turns

yeah, it's hit or miss. my one bottom turn off the bottom to foam climb felt like it shot up. then other waves seemed slow. I did notice that with a wider stance, it felt better. but I'm not a wide footed surfer so that will be an adjustment.

The Glazer looked the best out of the three. I wish those boards would work out here in Florida but it's almost never clean and the waves break a lot faster and close out - even when small. Poly boards work better for me in choppy conditions in Florida; I wish it would be that clean consistently out here.

As you know I don't like the shorter fatter boards but the Glazer looked to be a good fit for you. I didn't see you having to shorten your bottom turn or speed check your turn. The other 2 boards def needed more board time but design is everything and sometimes those designs don't match our style or ability. Good video. 🤙😷🇺🇲

I kind had the MISC figured out, I think. For some reasons, I ride it better backside. It's one of those boards that you expect it to roll rail to rail easily but it doesn't. I think it's largely due to the lack of vee between the fins or out the back of the tail. The rails are bitey from the nose all the way to the tail to compensate for the typical squirreliness twin fins have but will bog like log in soft waves. Even though it looks like a groveler, it requires faster/bigger waves and acts more like a standard high performance thruster. I rode it in 4-6' Bolsa and the turns felt really good when I had my back foot all the way back against the kick of the tail pad. Interesting board for sure.

Whats your favorite firewire board? I see you've had a chance to ride a variety. Was thinking of getting a dominator 2.0. What are your thoughts on that board? I surf same breaks. Great videos

So, my favorite used to be the Seaside but I think my surfing changed so the short (5'3 boards) aren't working as well for me. I started to like 5'6 boards and now that I'm on the 6'0, I'm not sure what to think anymore. In all honesty, the board I have had the most fun reviewing and surfing, is the Sunday. It has surprised me in every way. That does not mean I surf it the best, in the firewire linkup, the El Tomo Fish has been the best performer so far. Until Rob comes out with a narrower/longer Seaside more aimed towards performance. I do love the dominator, the old one. I think I would like the Dom2 but unfortunately, I tested the 5'4 which was just too small for me. The volume was just right but the outline was not ideal for my front footed surfing. With the wide point being further back from center, the Dom2 for me would be ideal at about 5'9 but at 5'9, the volume and thickness is too much. So that board just won't work for me. Having said that, I think if you are an intermediate surfer, buying the board big works which is why the original Dominator was so popular. Most buys bought that board way bigger than it was intended and because it pushed the wide point forward, the board worked really well. Most Pro are heavy back foot and prefer the wide point behind their front foot or at most, just at. I am hoping to be able to test another longer Dom2 (5'8 or 5'9) in the future. but I don't want to spend any money so I'll need to find a loaner. I'm certain I would love it at that length, especially at bolsa. One last thing, I love my 5'8 spitefire at bolsa but when I took it to Waco, the BSR pool, I hated it. too big, too wide, too slow. too many factors go into the way a board surfs.

pretty good surfing on a board your not use to yet. if you surf alot you probably need boards that feel different because you prolly get a little board feeling the same thing under your feet especially if you got alot of maneuvers down. like slater talks about how excited he gets when something feels different, but then in contests they go to that board they know the best for whatever their surfing. meant ot ask...have you ever done any minor repairs on firewires...like using that epoxy sun cure?

yeah, I've done repairs but I suck at it. My little brother somehow is amazing at it. He is our repair guy. They don't look perfect but they feel perfect. Meaning, the color might not match but you can't even feel that a ding was there. He just repaired a friends board using Solarez Epoxy and I think it came out really good. Wish I had taken a picture.

Does the medium entry rocker affect the catching waves ability of Misc ?

I don't think so, not by a noticeable amount but the issue is that the construction was too dense. At least the one I tried. relative to the height, width and volume of board, it's not as easy as the other two. But I think the d2 has a similar entry rocker. glazer is flatter. My buddy sold the MISC so we both didn't like it.

Something about the seaside... Most people I see on it have lots of speed and seem to be having fun. D2 or Glazer? Hope you have ridden them more and have a better grasp on them. It would be interesting to see how the shorter Glazer worked for you. Misc... maybe it just needs a speed generating fin like the HS2. Seems like the Seaside/Seaside and Beyond/Glazer is almost a perfect quiver. Keep surfing my friend and stay safe.

i got a good sense of the glazer but not the D2. I think i was trying to get too many reviews out to get the channel started. I'm going to revisit the D2 soon. I think I need to do 2 more on the D2, 1 more on the Beyond and Twice. 3x per board is the goal. i'm also now considering the CI Mid, people really seem to like that board. although If I go it, I would get the smallest one, 6'6". which technically isn't a mid for me. we shall see where my funds take me. Might have to wait for tax season to be over. I usually owe. :(

@@ThomyeSurfs I'll wait and see which you end up liking better.. The Glazer or the D2. I was just wondering if you might like the Glazer an inch shorter to align with the liters you need. I'm still trying to figure out a daily driver myself and I'm considering the Evo.. I'm a heavy guy so like that the volume is packed in there kind of like the seaside but with a longer rail line.

What do you like to surf on bigger fall/winter days?

last year i was just trying to do reviews so I . surfed any board but I've been really liking my Sharpeye Modern 2. But my guess is, it will be too wide once the waves get bigger. I am going to try out the inferno 72 soon. sold 4 boards to get one dark arts board. I think that will be my stepup if the rocker works for me. I will likely have to buy it a tad longer like a 5'10 to keep a longer flat spot under/between my feet.

I think you are looking good on the Glazer. I would ditch the Dominator and would not go near the Misc. Sometimes a board just doesn't work. Not worth persevering. Too many other good boards out there.

Have both Dominator II and Glazer.... Glazer all day. Dominator II needs more punch.

What is perferred fin setup for the dominator 2.0

I found that the board didn't have the greatest of drive so either a very large set of thrusters or a 2 +1 setup. The two large Twin Fin side fins dave you drive in slower speeds when the wave wasn't pushing but the small trailer would allow for the board to have release. When the waves got fast though, the bigger side fins got a tad tight.

my 5'6? did you by chance check out HSS Warner? they had a 5'5 which was in way better condition than mine. I haggled $100 off the sticker which brought it down to 4 something so out the door for $500, roughly. I'll let you know though. I do have to think out my quiver. I have no more room so my rack is all doubled up.
