I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit. Especially the 2nd half. Although I totally agree that it would've been better if King told everything chronologically instead of using flashbacks

I do a Stephen king book club on Discord app. The other person in my club said we should read Fire Starter as our next book since I picked Pet Sematary. I have about 5 chapters left in the book. I’m almost to chapter 56 out of 62 chapter or about 2 hours left of my audiobook on the Libby app. I have this book as a physical book of Fire Starter but its also available on the Libby app as a audiobook as well for me. I am hoping to start this book within the next few days. Someone told me the movie was really good with Drew Barrymore as a child in it. I may have to eventually check it out after I read the book of course.

I was so, so with Firestarter but I like Charlie. For me it felt like there was either a section in the middle or a section at the end that he removed in edit (maybe to fit deadline or something else). Just felt like King had a grander plan for the protagonists but ended abruptly....but hey what would I know :)

Never read but I tried to watch the movie several times and I never got into it. Sounds like the book is the exact same way.

I didn't enjoy firestarter that much because I have already watched the drew Barrymore film many times when I was a kid

@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS I agree, there are about 3 books I have read once and I will never read them again. Dreamcatcher is one of them. I consider that his worst book. I don't like Thinner or the Regulators.

@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS the thing is that this story of secret government organizations like "The Shop" was done better in "Scanners". This book kind of makes me want to just go watch Michael Ironside make people's heads explode. Also there was that 2009 film "Push". Very similar to this book other than the pyro.
