Hello Abbie, I just bought the Fire MapleX2 for $50 USD today with it being on the lightning deal and amazon's 10% coupon. The only catch was I had to get the orange color. Greatest bang for the buck away from Jetboil. Honestly its only a handful of seconds slower than the jetboil brand which is okay, I saved $100USD. AND It comes with a cooking prong for frying pans. Thats $10 usd extra for Jetboil.

I think you are probably right that the temp and the wind will have effected boil time. (And the volume of water) I have a fire maple, and it can boil enough for two mugs in 90 seconds on a warm still day. So far, no problems with the piezo, which I like as my jet boil zip doesn’t have one (but does have a little pocket on the neoprene cover to fit a lighter.) and also doesn’t have the pot support like the fire maple. I love your channel, you inspire me to get out with my stover more, thankyou.

Looks like a great stove, robust and does the job. Definitely a serious contender if I need a new one at some point. Might be a bit slower than others thou. Thanks for the review 😀

Thanks Abbie for the review, not one that I would use, prefer smaller set ups, but I do have the Fire-Maple FMS-300T that I use when size and weight is paramount! Its tiny, but copes quite well with boiling water with a windscreen - also seems well built. Been using it for the past year or so to good effect.

I have a stove and pot from planet X it cost £29.99p It does the job- bigger than the Firemaple and Pocket Rocket stoves but I like it. The extra weight doesn't bother me and it boils 350 Mils of water in just over three and a half minutes. The little piece you could not name is what I call a pot stand. Even though you can use it to put a frying pan on.

I don't get why boil times is such a big deal, if I'm out camping I'm in no rush for anything. I can wait for my water to boil. for the price of these types of equipment, I'm happy to wait. The gas is inexpensive and it's not using up ridiculous amounts. kick back, enjoy the scenery, and I'm sure you won't die of dehydration before your water is ready.

Thanks Abbie - I guess boil times indicate a stoves efficiency in turning gas to heat and using less gas is good. Ethically I wonder if we should be looking to move away from fossil fuel stoves - I've tried the wood burning options but they can be tricky to use and not always practical. It's the next great challenge for wild camping - I wonder if a pre-charged electrical system would work.............with solar back up!! A better brain than mine will solve it no doubt!!

At 600 odd grams it's going to be a hard sell to the ultra lightists. More suited to the myriad of overnight KZread video creaters to whom hiking consists of walking to the top of a hill, preferably in bad weather, setting up camp and cooking enough food to feed an army before heading back out next morning....ps. Abbie I certainly don't include you in that category.
