Dude you rock. Ex firefighter here. This video made my day. Having a citizen return gear that fell off is awesome. You think something is secure or you reach for something and it falls off the engine and your gut just bottoms out. You think oh no, I don’t have it anymore, it’s destroyed or even worse. Thank you for returning the helmet. That firefighter owes you a big thanks, a gallon of ice cream or a coffee at least. You know his two co-workers are going to razz him or her for loosing the helmet. Thank you and be safe on your motorcycle!

In addition, parts of personal equipment - especially helmets, which have already protected you from falling parts - are a kind of good luck charm. Whoever dropped this helmet will be more than appreciative of getting it back. I can well imagine that such a helmet would quickly have ended up as a souvenir in the hands of another person. Thank you bikers and thank you for your service to all firefighters.

Reminds me of years ago. A fire truck was responding to a call. At that time firemen still rode the trucks standing on a rear step. When this truck went through the humped intersection it sent both men into the air. They didn't lose their grip but one of them lost both his boots. I snagged them and followed the truck. When we arrived at the call I handed his boots back. He was very appreciative.😊

This reminds me of a time a fireman's boot tell off their truck, I picked it up and pedaled towards the way they were headed, about 12 city blocks . When I got there ,they were already heading back to the firehall, which was from 38st to 65st . I pedaled all the way to the firehall and gave them their boot. They gave me candy and let me sit in the firetruck until the police came ,then they put my bike in the trunk of the cop car and gave me a ride home and told my parents, this happened in approximately 1968/69 I wasn't even 10yet but will never forget.🙏 All that keep us safe.

Thank you for your comment. I didn’t think about it from that perspective. When we saw the helmet on the ground, we just thought about how important it was for a firefighter to have that piece of safety equipment. I didn’t think about what it symbolize for them. I’m very happy we saw it and were able to return it. I forgot we had the video until I got home and was reviewing the footage. I had no idea it would get this much attention on KZread. I almost removed the video because I didn’t want that fireman to feel bad about the internet seeing the incident. But after I saw all the heart felt comments I decided to leave it up thinking the world could benefit seeing more good acts of kindness these days. At no point do my wife and I feel we need to be acknowledge for this, just sharing something interesting we witnessed.

White helmet... that's an officer's helmet. Someone's getting their ba!!s busted when they get back. Quick story, one of our guys lost his helmet and somehow it got caught under another vehicle and dragged down the road leaving a freakishly clean flat spot right on top. It ground down about an inch, and another one of our guys, who is an amateur photographer, took a pic of it and posted it to Facebook with a funny caption: "this is what happens when you don't duck as you're putting a patient in the back of a helicopter". It went viral locally, and someone in the community flipped out and called the FAA... Needless to say, there were write ups and new SOP's out a few days later...

My mom's former EMS if you lose your radio your helmet or any crucial piece of equipment you're in trouble and you'll get hazed by the crew/team The station house will definitely be milking this one for the next five to six years or until somebody else loses something or does something stupid😂😂😂 oh just a heads up for everybody do not give a firefighter or EMS a flashlight you be making a unscheduled donation to the fire department😂

Notice how they didn't interrogate them? Notice how they didn't demand their identification card? They said the two words that no cop would ever say,. Thank You.

This firefighter thinks that since whoever has that numbered shield, that CAN be read on KZread, that individual has passed over the cookies/drinks for local TV and gone to the catering dinner for the house for the international exposure. 🤣

Good stuff. That’s the kind of citizenship that makes places great. Please get your friend to wear gloves before a simple spill cripples her hands. In my biking I’ve damaged many gloves but rarely scraped a helmet. I think ankle covering boots are also a priority, it’s one joint they can’t repair if it’s been scraped down the road. Sorry to be so miserable but it’s a decade as a road traffic accident paramedic speaking.

While cool, note Dwayne and other on-coming traffic failed to yield to an emergency vehicle. Unless there is a divider, i.e. curb, parking spaces, etc. all vehicles must yield to oncoming emergency vehicles.
