Honestly, imo Fireflies is just an overrated generically sounding song. It’s so obvious and easy to understand why Fireflies ended up being Owl City’s biggest hit. But Silhouette on the other hand is just beautifully meaningful. It’s the real masterpiece from Owl City tbh.

@@MusicLover-kz6rc I first heard Fireflies as I hit puberty and it was paired with romantic furry art in KZread videos (circa 2010-2011) and I was also figuring out my sexuality. It's nostalgic to me but also reminds me back when I had all these hopeless romantic fantasies about finding love. I gave a listen several times to Sillhouette as I had never heard that before -- I don't think it's any more beautifully meaningful than any other pop song, but that's the point -- listeners are going to attach their own emotional connections to the song and their own interpretations of the lyrics. My guess would be that the song is meaningful *to you* for whatever reason, but I listen to it and I think "eh, I've heard more 'beautifully meaningful' songs than that." It could be that I've never experienced heartache/breakup like "silhouette" may be about in terms of its lyrical meaning.

I remember finding this guy after the man who played Robbie Rotten passed, and I wanted to hear a "We Are Number One" cover, and then I found this too. When I watched this cover, it had to be a few months to a year after this video was initially posted, and I had been listening to it ever since then. Only difference now, though, is KZread updated to allowing captioned previews. I never turn on captions, unless I know the KZreadr does it, it is a video with english sub, or I accidentally do it. This time, tho, I saw this vid recommended, and I was thinking about pressing it. Preview plays, and boom! Special captions on an instrumental video. I never knew about this.
