The pistol staying level is a thing added to Siege after it went more competitive, the pistols used to bounce around a bit more but they later on changed it so the sights on guns don't bounce around and always shoot where it aims at.

17:26 I own an "AR-15" shotgun and I can safely say that the biggest reason you won't see serious adoption is reliability. Shells deform if left in the magazine too long, especially in the hot sun. Gun is very finicky about ammo choices as well, although powerful high velocity buck and slug are the most reliable. Even still, random failures to eject or feed are very common. Field stripping mine results in a bunch of tiny parts, and the last time I shot it, the charging handle ejected itself into a field covered with a foot of snow and was never seen again.

one thing to note about the SPAS-12 is that Siege is one of the few games that got the reload right. You can't just shove shells into it like on a normal shotgun. Instead you have to hold down a button to unlock the loading port cover and THEN can you put in shells. The player character in siege does that, that's why it's held with the left hand near the loading port (where that button is) and loaded with the right hand.

One thing no one seems to talk about with the P90 and the PS90 is the height over bore regarding ergonomics. It's literally impossible to get a true cheek weld if using the passthrough sight rail and any optic... low profile rails or RMR are better, but it's still one of the two biggest ergonomic hiccups with an otherwise super comfortable and approachable gun.

I mean, given the increasing popularity of risers for mounting optics on ARs (to the point where people have joked we returned back to the carry handle height), a solid cheek weld is probably no longer necessary especially for close range, low recoil rounds like the P90. Seconding this, again. My only fear is that some of the genius of its game design will be lost in video format. By that I mean, the game's control scheme kind of looks like a joke at first glance ("haha funny, simple thing with unusual controls", a-la QWOP) but it actually manages to pretty accurately emulate the way it feels to handle a very specialized and finicky mechanical instrument (like a gun) for the first time - You start off having to think every step through and needing to be extremely deliberate, but as you get used to it the procedures become second nature, and you learn to appreciate the sheer degree of control it gives you. It feels oddly satisfying and fittingly cool to do some sequence of inputs that seemed impossible at first (Like reloading the SAA, or clearing a double feed) basically on autopilot.

Unless you're a member of the japanese armed forces it's almost impossible to get your hands on any of their more up-to-date designs even to study it for academic purposes, so even a person like Jonathan likely has little to say about such things. i know that sounds weird, but Japan takes their commitment to non-aggression ridiculously seriously.

@@petriew2018 This is exactly the problem. Jonathon isn't a magical encyclopedia of firearm knowledge, he knows what he's learned from hands on experience. He has probably had little to no experience with most Japanese firearms because, like newer Russian weapons, he simply has no way to get ahold of them. However, unlike Russian ones, there isn't all that much information floating around on obscure Japanese guns. Japan is strictly non-interventionist and never exports anything. So the only way to learn about their domestically produced weapons is to A: get your hands on one (good luck), or B: find a Japanese person who speaks English, served in the JSDF, used the weapon, and will talk to you about it/post details about it online. So unless Jonathon has a friend who works as a JSDF armorer, he probably doesn't know too much about the fine details of their weapons. He could give us a few facts about the gun portrayed in the game, but wouldn't really know how accurate the portrayal is.

The next scene is of the shotgun lying discarded as everyone heads off into the rafters to escape. But why did Grant drop the gun? Well, if you look closely at the scene with the dropped shotgun, there's a shell stuck in the ejection port. Grant, presumably not knowing how to use the semi action, worked the pump, but short-shucked the gun and, being a paleontologist, didn't realize what he did - so, not knowing what to do, he dropped the gun. It's an incredibly small detail, but very nice to notice.

Id be interested in seeing them review the handguns of receiver 2, as it has a large focus on the firearm mechanics and such. (E.g. having a key to rack the slide, a seperate key to drop the magazine, a seperate key to holster the weapon, load bullets into the magazine, tap the magazine, etc.) And you have to address problems and jams accordingly using these complex mechanics.

I'm not sure if you folks are still doing the whole Loadout series, but I would like a more in depth video of the bullpup family of firearms. I have shot a P90 along with a couple of different shotguns in a similar style in the past, and it's got my mind wondering as to who originally made the first weapon that coined the term bullpup and design basis. Some people who are getting into firearms may want this video as well for educational purposes.

The comment about the SPAS-12 idea for gameplay is brilliant. Picture a more grounded type Siege/Swat-type game where the one characters ability is the SPAS-12. One button switch so you have breaching rounds on pump function, and then again semiauto for people. It sounds great!

Hey Jonathan! I own a Charles Daly AR-12S which is a semi-auto AR platform 12 gauge shotgun. And yes, it's just a chunky AR-15. The appearance, ergonomics, controls, and manual of arms are the same as an AR-15 except that field stripping and bolt manipulation are completely different animals because of the internal build. But it's a great gun for getting things done, especially with a red dot and light on it. Look one up!

Ar platform 12 gauges are really common here in the states, I got one in my closet and know a hand full of people that have them as well. Issue with them is they tend not to cycle without hotter rounds, ie 1450+ fps slugs. Mine hates anything less. Though I found storing it unloaded with the bolt locked open helped slightly with the issue

19:11 I think you mention it in another video, but the magazine is obscured by tape. It looks like it's been "field fixed", but this adds to obscure the feeding action of the bullets. That way they don't have to animate the inside of the magazine.

The way the SPAS12 is reloaded might seem overly theatric but it's actually one of the only games to get it correct; one of the shortcomings of the gun was that you'd have to hold the button on the lower edge of the receiver to unlock the loading gate, so holding it like that is more or less the only way to do it. Most games just have you feed the gun with your offhand as if nothing was in the way.

  • @hansmatheson5976

GSh-18 is renown in Russia for using special anti-armor bullets, like AS-VAL does. SP11 and SP12. Same bullets are used by SR-2M. This pistol is designated for usage vs armored targets and can break trough 3-rd level armor, which stopes AK-47 7.62 round.
