Yo Hes! can we talk about this SNKRS app? how are you or others getting the W? I have been getting L's for years... Now, I will try on the draws, and I still catch L's. Are you or wife, buying lots of products on the SNKRS app? Yup....and when you 46 now but still remember when exactly these came out ( thanksgiving 89’) and rocked them for the Chicago vs Orlando pre Christmas game.. even special.

I can't wait for these. I had the OG 89s, they were my first pair of Nike I ever owned, bought them in 1990, but they got stolen from my schoolbag, so 30 years later I'm making up for lost time LOL

I still have mine I just don’t have the box , got them at the BX on base for $60 back in 89. The military exchanges had them for cheap. The leather was soft like a baseball mitt on the OG’s, these new ones feel like cheap pleather.

@@skeezix8156 Nike didn’t use leather on the Air Jordan IV back in 1989. Nike had just started using a synthetic material known as “durabuck”. They would heat-press the durabuck to give it the appearance and feel of leather or suede. The shoes that utilized the suede durabuck often cracked and resembled a tennis ball after a few years. The shoes that utilized the leather durabuck often yellowed and dried out after a few years. Most Air Jordan’s use durabuck; the Air Jordan IV- Air Jordan- IX used durabuck. The company that made the material went out of business in 1998.

@@darnayblue3081 they used Durabuck on the 6’s in 91, that was the very first year. Everything before that had leather uppers. I know because I wore em. You’re just searching around google trying to find anything that fits to be right at this point

All hype aside, these are way better than a lot of hype shoes out right now like the chunky dunkies, Travis Scott 1’s, and the off white 5s which are worth more because of hype.

I’m talking about overall aesthetic look, wearability, history behind the shoe, who wore them and where did they wear them. Also are the shoes a timeless classic that have always looked good, look good now and will they look good many years from now? One more thing, would you wear the shoes if there was no resale value? Those are the questions one must ask when it comes to comparing shoes. I believe these fire reds pass the test when compared to some Travis Scott’s.

@@sKid-eq7dz well to me some non OG colorways are better. My favorite 4s colorways are the toros and oreos even tho they're not OG.

Quite phenomenal on feet

i think the midsole differences are probably about the close cell polyethylene and open cell polyethylene, open cell tend to crumble quicker but softer (OG formula) and close cell is more durable and more stiff (some of the retro).

Those are clean!

These are the ones that really got me into sneakers. Was born in 1980, so yeah man these were it. I remember rockin them with the tongue flipped over like the unions back in the day, so FYI it’s not something new that Union did, it’s actually how we used to do it. Bummed i didn’t hit the shock, was on that thing right when they dropped.

I’m trying to remember if the flat orange hangtag on these retros are actually how it was in 1989 or not. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Do you remember or not if this is like the OG tag? Because I remember specifically that the Military Blue AJ4’s had a tubular framed NIKE AIR hangtag.

Hey btw bout the drop, it was a 3 minute entry period for a raffle so that’s why you were able to hit with a late entry

How does it fit for wide feet? I got the bred 4 s and cool Greys last year 9.5 (my TT for Jordan, 1,3,5,6,11) and it's hurting my pinky toe like hell. Should I got half a size up? Update it takes some breaking in. I'm good with size 9.5

through time the midsole will become as hard as the 2 previous 4s ( quick reminder white cement is 4 years old now)

The black part of the midsole is paint over foam not sure if Nike or Jordan brand will ever find a way to get that to not crumble because of how it decompresses and bounces back maybe react foam would help or cushlon

Was able to hit on the shock drop! Initially tried for an 11.5 and I got ht "Sold Out" banner but I re-tried for an 11 and I hit. I never know what to expect from SNKRS lol

I think the rubber being softer is an attempt to make the sole last longer. Lemme know if that helps. Great vid I copped on the shock drop too.

@@lolmaorofl the squishier the foam is the longer it will last because a firmer foam leads to crumbling much more earlier.

Still waiting for Nike/JB to release the 4s that look more like actual OG high tops rather than mid tops......
