Just an FYI.....the mechanical water temperature gauge has a capillary tube with a small amount of diethyl ether connected to a Bourdon tube and encased in a dashboard gauge housing. When the tube is cut, it looses the fluid from the capillary tube. Thanks for the videos love watching you guys get the old stuff running and working again. Say hi to Ted .

The fuel pump is the fuel pump, the jerrycan provides a bigger head than an internal tank, we'll see how it runs later but I reckon the idle is weak, it runs fine on the main jet when revved and that needs a lot more fuel than idle. . . . . . . . . . I think the idle needle screws need a tweak. We'll see.

"Bless you", after a sneeze used to have more significance than today. In paganism it was important to bless the person who had just expelled an evil spirit before they took their next breath and re-inhaled it. Lots of carry-overs into modern religion from these ancient times, another example being the presence of yew trees in Christian cemeteries

@@willtricks9432 Lots of modern habits have ancient roots. The ewes were believed to ward off evil spirits. The 25th December was (and is) the date for the pagan ceremony of Saturnalia. The birth date of Christ was specified by, "The church" to coincide with this (widely thought actually to be somewhere in May by many researchers, even of the time) in order to filter pagans into Christianity by an osmotic process associated with this overlap. p.s. I am not a pagan. p.p.s. I have a fund of this kind of stuff, another example being the origin of why something might be called, "A devil of a job". Look it up and follow me into the bottomless pit of useless information, or, if you are afraid to put your toe in the water, I will explain it to you, though cannot promise a bedtime story.

It`s not a wire on that gauge, its a capilliary tube containing fluid which expands with a rise in temperature. This expansion causes a bourdon tube in the gauge to move the needle. I am 86 years old and back in the 1940s and 50s most cars had that sort of gauge including oil pressure. The tube was very easily broken. Oh happy days!!

Looking and sounding great , nice job and great video as always . And as for the spilt oil , in true military style as when we used to take some of our Fire Engines to Air shows or shows ( of the vehicle variety ) . Some of our Fire Engines were painted in IRR green to go in the field ....so the big fire engine wasn't seen !!! or the noisy Harriers taking off in the woods !!! . Anyway as every thing in the Military has to shine , we used to brush diesel or oil on the IRR green to make it shine ? . Yes can you believe it and yes on VIP visits I have painted dead grass green !!!! . The MOD became broke because of the amount of paint that was used in making things look nice for VIP's we never saw . Military Madness .
