What do you use for a simple gloss? Do all of them come out chalky and will that affect the final product?

Just did a cast and it’s gone brown and flaky have I done something wrong or do I need to coat with something?

Cape Crystal Brands Recipes I used a kit from babycasts, I wonder if I need to seal it or something? Thanks
