Finger Dining & Royal Thai Cuisine in Bangkok - Ruen Mallika
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I visit a friend's restaurant, and a very unique dining experience in Bangkok! Ruen Mallika, located in Sukhumvit Soi 22, is a Thai restaurant that serves "royal Thai cuisine" with elaborately decorated food fit for royals! What's more is you can even rent a Thai outfit and order from the "finger dining menu" to get the full experience. The building is actually an old traditional Thai wooden house that is over 200 years old!
This isn't some gimmicky, touristy stuff though. The food is legitimately delicious and well executed. This restaurant is recommended by the Michelin Guide, and its sister restaurant (the regular, non-royal version of this place) has been my family's regular place for years. The price is reasonable, it's not cheap but definitely not super expensive, about standard for this "class" of restaurant in Bangkok. The portion sizes are generous (which is not the case for many BBK restaurants) so I think it's a good deal.

Note: The cost to rent the Thai outfits is 500baht each at the time of this filming.

Wow! Those dishes look amazing! Thank you for sharing your friend's restaurant. Suggestion: When frequenting a restaurant like this, shoot a side video on how they carve those bowls. They were incredibly detailed and beautiful!
Imma go here soon.... thanks for sharing Pai!
The food looks delicious and ambiance is very pleasing. Can't wait to go there in December!

Haha, know exactly what you are saying about the rain. Right now, Friday night - all of a sudden, the rain just hit Bangkok. In any case, the restaurant looks really good.
Hi Pailin , the food looks very good. I guess we have to trust your taste buds😋 we are going to Bangkok in January and maybe we will stop by the restaurant. Thank you for the info😀

Everything looked absolutely delicious. My mouth was watering. I wish that restaurant existed when I lived in Thailand. It would have been walking distance since I lived on Sukhumvit Soi 24. I love all your videos! They make me smile and miss Thailand so much!
Once this pandemic is over I’m definitely making a trip to bangkok to go to this restaurant! Everything just looks so delicious and the presentation is just lovely!

Nat Nonthanasin not a business plan. Just a personal goal to find the time and money.
i never knew that the Thai people used to eat with their hands, this video is really an eye-opener! the malay & indian culture also involves eating with their hands so it's cool to see other cultures doing it too 😊

The Royal Khanom Twai looks so different to street Khanom Twai, but they looked delicious! Excellent video Pai :)
What a wonderful restaurant
Hi Pailin, I am your little fans in Malaysia. I love your channel and your character. I like Thailand and I travel to Thailand several time each year. Ruen Mallika will be my next MUST GO restaurant in next trip and thanks for your recommandation :)
Yum yum yummy❤❤❤
Oh I love Thai food 😍
Thank you for this delightful video👍💖👍. Yum!
Pai - I would love to see a series on Thai food, culture with you are presenter - OMG so awesome!!!
I like raining sound while eating. But I hope that monsoon rain would go easy in Thailand now so rescue teams would bring those boys out of the cave safely. One of their elite SEALs has sacrificed his life.

Another amazing video. Thanks Pailin
Wow! Hope you would feature the recipes of the dishes that you have not already done in the coming weeks - especially the Flower Tempuras, The jiggly steamed egg, Namprik Kai bpu, "coconut souffle" and of course the Bua Loy Sam Kasat. Thanks for this amazing video 😍
Wow, So beautiful..... Thanks for sharing!
Everything looks so delicious! Will have to go there the next time, we visit Thailand!
love the outfit, very authentic
Wow! The outfits beautiful.... foods look good
Delicious 🙏🏻🇦🇺
I like the food
Lovely two and gorgeous food
Bua Loy Sam Kasat is very similar to a Filipino dish called ginataang bilo-bilo (glutinous rice balls in coconut milk). Typical ingredients we add are banana, jack fruit, tapioca balls, and sweet potato.
I had to make a Royal Kings dinner to get my Diploma in Thai Cuisine at The Royal Thai School of Culinary Arts in Bang Seng Thailand. The course was 5 plus months.
สวยทั้งคู่เลยคร้าบ
Looks fabulously delicious!!!
Thank-you! That's a fabulous experience I'd never have if not for you!
This is fantastic!
I did finger dining a lot with my grandparents, especially at home where all the food is cooked to be eaten by hand.. It's a fun way to eat!
Will try to visit in August lookes like fun
I don't generally like deserts, but all of those looked amazing!
Pai you are such a beautiful person inside and out! You make every experience so interesting and knowledgeable. The Thai cuisine is such a beautiful experience to enjoy
Big, big like!!!! Place definitely to visit, so beautiful and creative.
what spectacular preparations. I have to go to that restaunt now! 🖤
I'd definitely visit this place when i go back to Bangkok this November 😁
You’re so beautiful with the traditional wear ♥️ reminds me of those Thai movies.

Time to make another trip to Bangkok for this yum yum food.
I need some of this food now! It looks awesome!
Bolan is also very nice for its traditional “Royal” menu, but much more expensive due to its fine-dining approach.
Delicious.
I really love this restaurant, have been there like 10 years ago...
I grew up in Thailand as 13 years old, I learned to eat with my hands with grandparents. In the countryside to eat with hands is normal, it is not ancient....Your guys are probably from big cities,... Thanks for recommendation. I likes that all people get dress as Thai tradition clothes....I wish we all could start to wear those clothes again...
PAII u seem like the best person to show food to!
Every video you ever post makes me hungry!
Ll definitely try this restaurant on my next trip to Bangkok.. thanks Pailin!!
Looks delicious!
I love this place... ohhh the FOOD!! All of it... and Chiangmai 💗 Thailand 🇹🇭 and crispy santan flowers. Finger Dining is yummy experience just like growing up. That monsoon rain season... I miss monsoon ☔️ ☔️ rain ☔️
Both the food and the hosts look fantastic Pai! I’m planning a trip to Bangkok in November so this video definitely comes in handy for my exploration of Thai cuisine. Can you give the name of the sister restaurant of Ruen Mallika as well? Thanks very much.
Thanks again for visiting Ruen Mallika na jaa! I love your this vdo so much! It's very cute and friendly! ชอบมากกกกก ถ่ายทอดออกมาได้ดูชิลๆ ธรรมชาติดีมากเลยยย ดูแล้วรู้สึกกันเอง สบายๆ ☺😍😘
Pailin is an adorable woman. I have made many of their wonderful recipies. Thanks Pailin for your contribution for a better world
I’m just so in love with this video because we as “KAREN “ we love to eat with our hands even in third world country because it’s so tasty for us to eat that way
you two are gorgeous and the food looks yummy
Think that restaurant is in a side road off Sukhumvit 22 we lived about 2 minutes walk away from it for years.
Definitely coming back to Thailand when my son gets older! Food paradise! Excellent video! Kap kun kap!
My mouth is watering to see this video. My wish someday I can visit Thailand; maybe after this "pandemic" era. I have been following Pailin since the pandemic era where cooking KZread is my daily routine which is so refreshing. There are many Thai resto around me but I am sure NONE is original like in Thailand. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for sharing with us the video. I am a half Brazilian Japanese who has been traveling to Thailand several times... I am visiting BKK next week (May 2019) and definitively I am going to the restaurant.
this is boom !!!!! gotta be traditional !!!
So nice...
Amazing!!! All of the food looks delicious, and your hostess was so lovely and knowledgeable. I want to go there so bad. She said kale and you said Chinese broccoli--what were the leaves used for the Miang Kham? I've never found betel leaves where I live, so I just use large spinach leaves, but this looks more interesting. xox
@PailinsKitchen

It's Chinese broccoil. In Thailand it's often translated to "kale" but in N. America "kale" refers to something else so I wanted to make sure people are clear. Kale and Chinese broccoli are part of the same family :)
I always love you with new video and eating unique food and I love all the food u eat.
How anyone can give this a thumbs down beats me. Smh. Some people are just negative in everything they do. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for present thai foods : )
I will check out this place when on my trip to thailand this December
