I’m gonna throw this out there as a crafter. If yellow pins get lost on gold tails...have a container of red pins you use on gold tails and so on....it’s not that hard. Or count your pins as you place. And then count again after removing.

I totally agree with you! One of my mermaid friends told me the Mythic bodies are allegedly assembled over seas by a second party company and that’s why they can’t count each pin.

Good to hear that Finfolk had taken accountability and fix their mistakes. I think the unfollow is unnecessary, this make people question how genuine their response was. Anyway can't wait to see the tail after the fins are attached.

that's what I was thinking too. Although they handled the situation well and made up for their mistakes by providing her some additional gifts, unfollowing was inappropriate on their part.

Definitely an immature move on their part for unfollowing you even after they gave you such a 'big' apology. Sounds like they were super salty about being called out, especially by a well-known mermaid in the community. But whatever, if they chose to unfollow you, let them be salty.

they could have unfollowed for fear of lawful actions being taken into matters. personally, it could have just been the companies way of being careful about the situation

I think it’s important that we acknowledge that the fact that you have a decent sized following may have had an effect on their response to the situation, I’m curious whether someone with less of a following would be able to get it handled this well. No hate to finfolk though! Just a thought

That is a very good thing to point out! I have heard from other mers with smaller followings that they were ignored, tricked or straight up blocked when they had issues with their tails *allegedly*. BUT I think most of those situations were a couple of years ago now and I’m really hoping that Finfolk would now handle any screw up like this no matter how big or small a persons following is. A fish can hope!

Unfortunately a mer in my pod said that this response was pretty rare for Finfolk. She's had lots of problems with them :(

I think They definitely only gave you this level of customer service because of your following, the unfollow just kinda cements that for me. I have heard of others with bad experiences and not to mention how bad their business model is (you have to pay to be a part of their pod to POTENTIALLY score a tail and then wait months to receive it) They have beautiful tails but I just can’t bring myself to spend that much after currency exchange and get shoddy customer service if anything goes wrong with the tail

I have a friend who had one of the first gen fabric tails and seams ripped and the outer fabric separated and she had literally done nothing but put it on on a cushioned chair and swam in a pool once and she got ghosted.

In my opinion since the pin incident happens a lot, they should double check under every single scale before sending, a bit more work but this is what a good business does, also the unfollow was really hm questionable since u were so nice and cool about the fins, u weren’t being rude or anything

I'm really annoyed at their first response as it seems like they made an excuse, which they seem to do a lot. I'm glad you were taken care of in the end, but you are one of the few and I'm sure you having a sizable following helps. Unfortunately they've been kinda awful to some people in the community who have posed complaints of seam popping on their new tails, going so far as to delete people's negative posts about them. I'm thinking they may have been a bit salty that you didn't remove your original video, hence the unfollow, but I really appreciate your honesty. I think it's important to share your honest opinion even if it's about bigger companies. I have so much respect for you and what you do ♥️

Emma you were really professional and respectful. Better than I think a lot of us would've handled it. Now i dont feel so good about buying their spring line though. The unfollow was unprofessional, but whats worse is that there are many stories of finfolk just straight up ghosting people when they've made complaints. That AND the fact that they seemed to be making excuses in that first email, then Abii had to come in and make it more pr appropriate. Also, your large platform may have influenced how quickly they responded, and also how much they reimbursed you. I mean you pretty much got the fins for free, depending on how much amatheia charged you. Plus scales, stickers, a silicone hair piece, a card and they covered all costs. My heart goes out to those who spend 300usd etc on fins that never came, just to be ignored and never getting that money back. Nothing bad on your part, but this gave me an icky feeling on their part. I do feel they expected you to remove your video or reach out privately. But your honesty is very much respected from us

I don't know what to think of finfolk anymore. Their tails are beautiful, that's out of question. But they are always so poorly made. I don't snatch one of the newer tails yet but all older neoprene tails I saw were like broken after 2 swims already or before even their first one. I mean can you sew without any care? I needed to sew 2 of their tails completely new already. One of them wasn't even used because it didn't quite fit the previous owner. Still I had to renew the waist band and all sewing jobs on the side of the tail...

Glad that you were able to speak up and get the response you needed.

Pls give us an update for when you get the fins attached

the unfollow....was so unnecessary. this was a great way to showcase their sales recovery, which makes them look even more professional. as someone in marketing and pr...that was a REALLY bad move on their part.

I think the unfollowing was a little disheartening... I know we don't know the exact wording of your emails, but at least from these videos you have been nothing but honest. You still complimented the tail and some features like the zipper. Even though you were clearly sad, you seemed very understanding that sometimes these things happen, which is unfortunately true.

The unfollow was honestly a little bit jarring and disheartening, I never said anything rude or unkind in my video or emails back to them - just that I was disappointed and wanted them to make it right, which they did! I thanked them a lot and wrote how I hope we don’t have any bad blood and how I forgave them and was very satisfied with their solution to the issues (the video was getting too long for me to include all of that). But it’s okay, I know that I was just being honest and that I went into my unboxing video with every intention of promoting and hyping up their company because I do love their tails so much. I know that I haven’t been rude or unkind so that’s all that matters! I can’t control how the Finfolk team ultimately feels about me and that’s okay. I’m just glad they fixed this situation and are implementing measures to insure this kind of thing doesn’t happen to any other mer in the future. 💛✨

You are so patient, and forgive so easily, you are so nice to forgive them for what they did.

I see how it could happen with the pin being the same color as the fin. Bc they didn't have the hip & tail fins and w/ the the pin problem, I think they handled the situation well. Giving you the fins free & covering shipping was the right thing to do; plus the extras!!

They should get different colored pins then use the different colors that would stick out in the tails or maybe use a white or black colored pins. The pins are such a big issue and using the yellow pins wasn’t a smart move. Glad they made it up to you though! Also, they probably unfollowed you out of embarrassment. I can understand that.

I do want to point out a bit more publicly rather than just a reply, that they could have unfollowed in fear of legal actions being pursued and by unfollowing you on social media may have been a means of taking caution out of the situation. I wouldn't hold it against them as an individual, but rather that it was a company decision to take their companies best interest into play. I bet the actual workers still follow you, but during a youtube review of a product that happens to be flawed, there's some risks, as a company, you have to tread lightly with.
