    One final thing that didn't make it into the final cut of the video: The coupling on the end of the air hose that would fit to an air supply didn't have an O ring in it to prevent leakage. It's an easy fix with a trip to the hardware store or with some plumber's tape. Again, not a deal breaker, but just one of those things that you notice, even when only laying out $40 for a comprehensive airbrush kit. -TK

    @@rszanger Not too bad but I recommend the SJ83 version. Gaahleri is doing some amazing things especially with their new Mobius lineup. Seems Iwata, Badger and H&S are going the way of Nvidia by resing too long on their laurels. The new companies with more and better innovative designs and far lower price point is leaving them in the dust.

    I actually really like my el cheapo airbrushes I got from the zon. Both dual action, one button style and the other trigger style. Neither has a mac valve, but the button style came with my “compressor” for $70 and the trigger style was $35. Both came with all three needles & nozzles and fit both, then again they’re both ‘Master Airbrush’, so they should be interchangeable. 🤪 I favor the trigger style because I have better control with it, and use the button style with the .5 needle for primer and clear coat or high volume/area low detail work. The compressor isn’t great, but it gets the job done with no noticeable pulse. But... I do want a ‘California Air’ 59db 1 gallon compressor, and eventually some more expensive, higher quality airbrushes, definitely trigger style.

    i bought the gahleri ghaad-68 airbrush for like $60. I heard great things about the Grex pull trigger airbrush but it's like $150. so when i saw barbatos rex review on the ghad-68 and other positive reviews, i was sold. I have MS and the handle/pull trigger looks to be easier for me. it comes with a 0.5 mm needle which is great for larger model coverage ( i build mostly cars). just avoid the harbor freight $15 single action set, it had rust on parts when I opened it. lol. I tried it to spray flip flop paint by turbo dork. was not a fan of either.

    How did i miss this video. The Osprey books are right in my area of interest, and tge dual corsair kit is really cool. Will have to look for these. About the $40 air brush kit. I spent a $100 or so for a Badger single action, siphon air brush kit and for a year used it with canned air before picking up a small compressor with tank at a DIY store. If this little $40 kit had been around 20 years ago, i would have bought that. Especially with all the additiinal items that came with it. Very nice video, thanks to all tge FSM team. Oh on last thing, i cringed when i saw a a horse from Tim's dads budwieser kit being a sacrificial lamb.

    The Gundam event was really good to watch. I've built one or two EG Gundam kits myself, but not that particular one, and they're really good to put together without losing much articulation or quality from HG kits (the typical basic level for 1/144 Gundams). Great to see so many kids involved too. I've reached out to my local hobby store to try and source an AMT Artemis because that is 110% up my street.

    There is a whole wave of less expensive airbrushes that have hit the market, and some mid priced ones that are actually very good value for the money. I purchased a Gaahleri on sale during a Prime day sale, and it is a nice little unit that came with a couple sizes of needles, and extra cup and some other goodies for $32 - really nice packaging too.

    Great review on that airbrush. One other thing I don't know if you paid attention to on these cheap airbrushes. I bought an airbrush like this one on Amazon. It was like $40 and had a self centering seat, so I had to give it a try. I took it apart and the needle was not hardened steel. It was very light, probably aluminum. Needless to say, I had problems with the airbrush after only two round of taking it apart to clean it. The needle didn't seat into the seat properly anymore. So look out for that in these cheaper airbrushes.

I add thinner and blow it out and clean the needle. yet every time I go to use it the needle is stuck and won't budge. I have to loosens the needle, pull it out and run cleaner through the brush. Great look and Video, I will say the NeoEco SJ-83 which is the version 2 of this brush is much better and runs in the same price range. NeoEco work great and paint no different than my $200 Iwata and $100 Patriot. These are not beginner airbrushes as there is no such thing. Single action mimic spray cans but with a much finer spray pattern, Dual action allows varying spray patterns, both are for beginners depending on their needs. Big common mistake in the hobby which is mostly an arrogance thing not a personal use thing.

    No body gives you a storage for the .3. That is nit picking, is it not. I have 2 of their model NCT-SJ83. It also comes with 3 needles and the new type nozzles. I just got on their Web site and ask them how much would it be for an empty holders for the needle & nozzle. They sent it me no charge.

  • @FineScaleModelermagazine

    @FineScaleModelermagazine

    7 ай бұрын

    Sure, it's nitpicking, but it's about product design. The last thing I want to do is accidentally shove my .5mm needle into the .2mm nozzle. Providing the materials ahead of time would minimize the potential for that confusion. Maybe going forward, they'll include a third container for the .3 nozzle and needle in the kit. It's great that they'll send one out for no cost, but that suggests they could have included it to begin with and the set would have been that much more complete rather than you emailing them for extras. It's about thinking ahead, that's all. -TK
