Oof, Matt was doing my head in! Being 15 min away from your parents is no great crisis, he just needed to grow up and accept that his wife and child should be a higher priority than the question of 5 miles. Glad he came around!

I agree. I always wonder where couples who don't find a house on the show, specifically those that pull out of deals, end up. Do they find better homes in the locations they want? Do they end up in nice homes but in different areas than they looked on the show? There's so many possibilities, but usually (not including 2008-2010) the housing market only goes up, up, up. During several episodes they talk about couples being able to afford less house than when they started because they have been looking for so long and prices kept going up. With this couple in particular, I just feel like they just had to have all their renos done immediately and couldn't afford to. As you said, the house was perfectly located and definitely livable. You can't do some work now, some work 2 years from now, some work 5 years from now, etc.? It's so silly.

Having just started this show, Matt is too immature. He obviously has not learned the one true rule of being married. Happy wife, happy life. It's that simple. He can't get too far away from mum? Poor baby..... when I was 22 I got 5000 miles away from my family and lived in the U.K. for 27 months. Then 1200 miles in the other direction, past my family home for 3 years then 1 year in another country and 6 months in still yet a different country and I haven't stopped traveling yet. When family wants to see me I fly them to where I am living. I am not well to do but I am able to travel and am thinking about returning to the U.K. again and living in Edinburgh for a while. Love this show. Oh by the I am an American.

He needs more than a kick up the ass 😮. He really is a mammys boy. Not thinking of his wife at all. That house is two small and to much work especially when shes the one that will be living in the middle of renovations with a baby.

Why does Mat need to be near his Mummy?!! What a jerk. He should grow up and stop being so selfish. Mummy's boy and by the sounds of it has always got his own way. His wife will be in the house all day and if his parents are anything like him then she probably wants nothing to do with her in-laws either. I'd be surprised if they are still together. Hope she gets a real man next time.

Lower Parkstone is stupidly expensive, I'm guessing he ruled out the rest of Poole which is mostly a lot cheaper.

Why do the Brits turn so much of their small front and back "gardens" into hardtop areas? Bad for the environment. It doesn't have to be grass.

Mainly because the UK is a very wet country, and its very easy to track mud into the house, due to the ground being wet.

sounds like this new mom is either in post-partum depression and/or is terrified by the idea of being stuck at home and giving up her pre-mom freedom. Hubby will be leaving the house and going out into the world, she's be "stuck at home".

Love Phil but I’d rather see him shake the hands of both men and women. As a woman that’s what I’d prefer.
