Wow, she is good, she said more realistic things than other people that do “matching”. A lot of her thinking is exactly how I feel. I have been married for 50 years( 11/24/1973 ) but I hear young people complain, and their expectations are ridiculous, you are going to date a human, just like you, don’t expect perfection, it doesn’t exist. ❤ be yourself, and don’t THINK that you are going to change the person, 95% of times that person is not going to change. Marry who you like and not who you think you are going to change to become what you would like. ‼️‼️‼️

Have good boundaries and stick to them. Sometimes we bend too much and we end up accommodating the wrong type of person in our lives. We then become so invested in making it work that we waste our time and resources on someone who is not worthy.

I think its important to give men that you dont initially feel fireworks for a chance. When i met my fiancee it was not immediate fireworks. I took it slow and as he revealed who he was he checked every box he just arrived in a different package than i thought he would. Thank goodness i had theself awareness to hive him a chance. Chemistry is def important. If you’re not feeling that physical chemistry connection, you’re not ready to make a physical connection. Sometimes feeling strong in your own body image needs work before you are ready to share in a physical relationship. That’s a real lightbulb moment.

Dominque what a great topic. After a divorce, several long term relationships that were all verbally & emotionally abusive, I decided to go to therapy to figure out why I couldn't be happy or find the right person in my relationships. When we finally came down to it, it had to do with my dad & how he treated my mom. After being single for several years my friends said you've been alone for a while now it's type to get back out there. I had no clue about online dating I wanted to meet someone by chance on the street or the park which doesn't give you many possibilities. I decided to go on Our Time & see what options I had. OMG I meet some crazy guys but funny enough the last one was the one. Courtney I was just like you, looking for a guy over 6 ft tall, who liked dogs, & spending time outdoors. Well Courtney to my surprise his not over 6ft tall, doesn't have the job I would expect, always had cats & I'm a dog person. Here I am now 7 years later with a man who has the biggest heart, treats me like a queen & loves my dog to death. So I guess you never know what type God has in store for us. Courtney keep looking I know you will find the right one. You are a sweet young woman and deserve to be treated like a princess if not move on to the next. Ladies you are both amazing and deserve all the best life has to offer.

Bring her again, Dominique, please! And thank you for bringing such as bubbling and knowledgeable dating expert. I agree with her, you should have your expectations, but they shouldn't be unrealistic. Also you shouldn't settle for a person with red flags. I like the 3 dates system and the fact of not accepting less than 80 in aspects such as the mind, heart, and connection.

This segment was so great! So many “gold nugget” take aways. Laurie is so spot on with growing up in an era of you serve the other person to the point of losing who you are. On my list was Tall, Dark, and Handsome. Believe me, I found Tall, Dark, and Handsome, and married after 2 years of dating, and literally, once the honeymoon was over, spent 24 years of married life being physically, emotionally, and verbally abused. I finally found the courage to break free, and I have spent the last 15 years trying to find myself again. This is for Courtney: You are a beautiful inside out woman, don’t settle for anything less than what you truly deserve. The heart ❤ of a man will radiate outwardly in the way he treats you, and wants to spend time with you and pay attention to you. Dominique, as always this podcast is so helpful for those of us over 50 that would like to be more intentional and feel secure about dating again. 🌹

Everything is so true here, I met my husband we went to the movies on the first date, didn’t feel any connection, at the time I as reading the book men are from mars women are from Venus, it said you have to give a person 5 dates, so I thought I would test this , the second date was so much better, third heaps better, then I thought I really like this person, he wasn’t my typical person to go on a date with. 8:46pm I am definitely over 50 and it was an entirely different world when I did date. I wanted to make the point of how you don’t really have to have interest in someone, so take a chance.. I had zero interest in dating the man who would become my husband. I only went out with him because 46:33 my girlfriend wanted to double date with his friend. After a couple of dates I saw him interact so sweetly with my three year old sister, even suggesting we take her for a walk. A couple of dates later when he came to pick me up I opened the door and hoo haa! Fireworks! We were married63 years before he passed and I miss him every day..

I got divorced at 50 and have not dated…15 years later. Was an older parent so raising my 3 boys by myself. So no time or desire! I take reasonably good care of myself but I just don’t have the courage or energy to date now that my kids are gone and I am an empty nester. I would lime someone to travel with as I approach retirement and I guess as an occasional companion. But even the thought of doing that is too daunting as the only option seems to be online.

OMG! So I’ll continue listening to her if she answers the question but one at almost 59 years of age, I don’t know if I want to date again I like the male and the flirtatiousness and then the being able to go home our separate ways But be able to meet up again. But my number one question is every facet of social media whether it is your personal social media platform whether it’s business whether it’s the dating apps every one of them even though they’re supposed to signify different things for different platforms seems to be a dating platform, and I really get tired of men reaching out to me on my business platform and I can’t help but be ugly about it! And the other concern that I have is, I have been catfish or scammed. I’ve not been stupid enough to give any man any money when they start talking money to me and sending it to them, I immediately lose them. This is the reason why I hate online dating, online meeting. I hope she has some advice.

To understand what parts of a "criteria list" are actually meaningful and which aren't. To be true to yourself to understand that after 3 dates, you will know if the persosn is right for you and don't go the "i can change them" route. @@LaurieGerber-vc8jh

This podcast was so needed in my life right now. I am thinking about getting to know someone and possibly moving on from my current relationship. The new guy checks off #1 and #3. I have to find out more about him. I just have to get up the nerve to go out with him.

I understand what you’re saying, this is what I do. When it’s time for a commercial I go do something like put the clothes in the wash or let the dog out to go potty. I know Dominique’s commercials are a source of income so I let them run to support her. If there’s one that’s outrageously long I have to respectfully skip it. ❤

True silly story i came put of the store driving a scooter cause my knee is bad and im a chubby 70 yr old woman not looking for a man. A 28 yr old latin lover came up to me and ask if i liked younger men? I burst into laughter after he told me he loves older women!!! I said " im poor and old honey but he was fine with that " He says " He was only looking for fun!!" I cant stop laughing and have zero interest in a baby!! Lol

A lot of good points. I would add: try Not to have dates thru media. There is a big disconnect. Its not human to human. Also, NO kissing on first few dates. A man will respect you a lot more if you dont allow/offer and physical contact. It shows that you respect yourself. You have to be your own gatekeeper. Its up to him to earn your trust while evaluating each other. No alcohol either. For too many reasons to list here. Did anyone mention God first before anything??? Ask God for your best match. When meeting, can you accept him "as is?" If not, you will never be content.

This process sounds all too complicated to participate. I’ve been a widow for four years and haven’t dated because I’m a woman of faith so that is my first criteria. I’m personally happy but would like a companion to go to plays and movies with.

If the guy is good and you like him, date him at least three times before you say no more. In personal experience the best lover I ever had was with someone I wasn't attracted to initially at all.

Well Ladies. Let me tell you. I gone for broke. I signed up with Laurie Gerber. Wish me luck. Dominque, I think your ladies that are still hopeful need to sign up and get together to support one another. If that doesn't work at least get together for a good laugh. I can't believe that I'm still wishful, hopeful and just maybe a little brave.

Really?! Do you feel better sharing that? You know the courage a person needs to put their face and body on the internet?Sometimes sharing unsolicited negative opinions about someone's appearance is hurtful to them. This platform is about "flourishing" and supporting/encouraging each other. Neither Dominique nor Courtney invited comments about their appearance. Have some grace, compassion and maturity for crying out loud.

Started to talk to a man I met on a dating site and he told me he was divorced and we had such a nice time talking for hours. Well next day I asked him if he was divorced and he said he has been living separate for 3 years and in his mind he was divorced. He apologized for deceiving me. What do I do?

great Q, people often lie about this-you were smart to ask again and he was smart to be truthful but it's not the greatest sign about that part of his character. The whys and the timing of the divorce matter and how he is doing in the other H categories...Spill
