Finding Franklin’s Ships - UWaterloo Prof Robert Park’s lecture
Фильм және анимация
On September 9, 2014, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the discovery of one of Sir John Franklin’s two ships, missing since his expedition sailed into the Canadian Arctic in 1845. The find was the culmination of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency research project that started its work in 2008. Since then Robert Park has spent parts of four summers assisting the Government of Nunavut in its land-based archaeological investigations into the Franklin expedition tragedy, and helped make the find that led Parks Canada’s underwater archaeologists to the wreck of one of the ships. In this presentation he recounts the many failed attempts to find Franklin, explains what recent archaeological research has revealed about the lives and deaths of the explorers, and how the first of Franklin’s ships, the HMS Erebus, was finally found.

Excellent lecture. Camera needs to focus on the slides.
This is a fascinating presentation. Very well done.
It's called the crows foot and is still in use in the British military.
in future don't have a guy with the camera, it needs to be fixed and in the zoomed out position to see the slides and the guy talking. The constant zooming is something my kids would do and makes it frustrating to watch...Excellent speach, photos and talk though...bravo....
What is planned for the 2019 season?

Hi, apologies for the delay! We don't have any firm dates yet for this coming year - we'll be posting upcoming events to our website at uwaterloo.ca/arts/events. Thank you!
How does a former Naval Officer and archaeologist get involved in the future work for this project?

You're welcome! Sorry for the delay, but best of wishes!
The captain was not a young man and was said to not be in good health before the expedition
There’s nothing wrong with leaving the camera on the wide shot. The zooming is unnecessary
Que mierda le pasa al camarografo?????
Unwatchable... Stop zooming in and out constantly....! The guy is talking and using slides to tell a story. What's the point in not showing the slides and mainly focusing on the speaker...

I was going to say the say thing... facinating subject matter but they should have allocated some funding to the production with two cameras and at least one cameraman. I was feeling sick after a while with the constant camera panning, zooming and refocusing... a camera should have been kept on the slides and perhaps an edited insert of the speaker! Useless to have the speaker discribing the events on the screen slide without being able to see them, d'oh!

Of what practical use would that be? Or do you just want to lay blame on indigenous people?
