Rather than cracking or smashing them if you'd cut them in half and then polish the halves you'd find them all to be beautiful, even the solid ones.

Completely agree. I cringed at the smashing. Just cut them in half.

I agree too. That solid crystal would be real pretty sliced up. I don't know how they can turn their noses up at pretty shiny rocks. I love shiny things lol. Great video loved it. Ms Michal 💝😊☕

@@powerforex1 I'd guess a diamond blade would do a fine job. Same kind you'd use to cut granite counters. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong here! 😊 )

I live about 2 hours away from the Dugway Geode Beds in Utah and I've found some gorgeous geodes out there. We used to be able to dig for free but now the BLM charges a small fee for a permit. It's also near Topaz Mountain where I've found Amethyst and Topaz! If you ever find yourself near Tooele County, Utah you should take the time to hit the Geode beds and the mountain. Never know what you'll find up here!
You'll find about 10% of the Keokuk geodes have petroleum inside. That's the tar substance you'll see in some of them, usually amounting to a small 90% dried flattened blob, about the volume of a pea. Sometimes in the multi-chambered geodes, one whole chamber might be entirely tar. Also, Keokuk geodes may actually be fossil jellyfish, or some similar extinct soft bodied animal. At least that was the thinking 30-35 years ago when I studied geology at Iowa.
I once found a geode that had a fossilized nautilus that had very fine quartz right in the center. My fav find!

A few years ago as I was walking down a sidewalk in St. Matthews Kentucky , to a bus stop in front of the Verizon store , I found a really cool tiny geode . It’s a three lobed geode that is no bigger around than an American quarter , and shaped like a shamrock . I held it at several angles and found out that it’s a shaker . It’s so small and delicate looking that I don’t think that I’ll ever cut or crack it open . The first thing in this video that made me reminisce about anything was , your Case 1845C skid steer . I used to drive one at Pierce Mill Tree farm in the early nineties to dig and haul trees . I also found a chunk of limestone with a crystal tube in it , along with dozens of arrow heads . I always enjoy watching your videos .

The Crystal Collector If you can get to anywhere around Rough River Lake or , I think it’s called , Dean’s Lake you can find tons of them if you dig long enough . The ground is rocky as hell around Rough River . The park is about half an hour to forty-five minutes from Ft. Knox and Radcliffe Ky . There are a bunch of spots just across the river in souther Indiana where a friend of mine goes . His friend has a farm with a shale bed where he finds a bunch of fossilized wood . I can’t wait till we go to the places around state where my rock hound buddy gets his stones .
Love seeing more videos. Gorgeous geodes 💜💙💚❤️

iron out awesome thanks for the tip. i will watch the video you mentioned to get that specific info. i live near a small creek in central indiana. everytime it rains i can walk up and down the 1/4 mile i have access to and get buckets of great softball size geodes. of course also every size down to popcorn i call them. but the good ones i have found are usually baseball to softball size. ive been very lucky in my findings. a couple happy accidental breaks. great vid
Even of the ones you called duds have some beauty. Just the colors in the light one was nice
This is awesome!!!! And you guys are very funny too!

I found almost like a orange topaz-looking geode looking nothing like this, but it’s compared to a massive apple and still bigger than that. Nice job finding those too!
Took a trip to Keokuk about 20 years ago a couple of locals told is where to go and we found some beauties. I love the Keokuk geodes. Geode heaven.

Geodes are my fav 💕
I was a plumber in Tennessee and found some Black Onyx and they varied from golf ball to bowling. ball and one was the sword shaped it just needed to be smoothed but there was so much I. sold about a 2 to 300 lbs. I wish I could get back to where I stacked them I had made a wall along a ridge and then prayed

Wow thats really cool! Where did you say that wall was at again?! Lol just kidding 😆😅 Sounds like a great spot!!!
If they are solid cut them into 1/4 inch wafers and polish them. They look really cool like that.

I have a small geode, and a large one that is in half with white crystals, very beautiful.
As a use I love to slice just about any geode pieces .. Especially solids and after polishing them up ..I drill a hole if needed and make wind chimes. They can carry a very nice sound.
Hey I love your videos
Thanks for the video we just got to go there today and had a good time.
