@@rooneyk4474 a little late, but no. This is very much an algebra 2 subject, and will never be used in algebra 1. slope intercept and point slope are the only function types you will ever have to graph

Thank you calcgma, you are correct, I substracted the one on both sides so there for it would be a negative on the left side so when I take the root of both sides I would yield a negative one under the radicand. If the degree is higher on top, it would mean that there is no horizontal asymptote but there would be a slant asymptote which you would solve by synthetic or long division
