@Tee stew No worries that's a great question! When you're going from a little number to a big number, multiply. When you're going from a big number to a little number, divide. But you could also solve all of these by just multiplying (or dividing, up to you). For example, on the 3rd problem I divided but i could also do multiplication. You could just ask yourself "how do I get from 2 to 10? I have to multiply by 5. So that means I need to multiply by 5 on the bottom also. So on the bottom what number, multiplied by 5, is equal to 30. Well that would be 6, because 6 x 5 = 30. So 6 goes in the bottom. I hope that makes sense but I could also make a video to clarify 👍

@Tee stew It's a similar problem, so how do you get from 3 to 15? Multiply by 5. So multiply by 5 on top also. And 5x8 = 40

This helped me review fractions to help my daughter who is in the 3rd grade. She is solving equivalent fractions right now.

its basic algebra steps: step 1: substitute: 3xC= 4x6 (division becomes multi because were substituting and opposite things happen)| step 2: finish step 1: 3c= 24 step 3: substitute again: C=24/3= C=8

Great question! Another way to solve these types of problems is by cross multiplying. For sure! It'd be better if you solved this using cross multiplication. Here's a link if you don't know how: kzread.info/dash/bejne/am2ouaWBksWzhs4.html This is how you'd solve this one though: 4/16 = 9/x Cross multiply those: (4)(x) = (16)(9) 4x = 144 x = 36 So 4/16 = 9/36 Hope that helps but let me know if you still have questions 👍

I'm going to put an 'x' in the numerator since it is unknown. So let's rewrite the problem as: 1/11 + x/12 = 17/66 In order to add or subtract fractions, you need to have the same denominator. Do 11 and 12 fit into 66 evenly? 11 does but 12 doesn't. So what if we doubled 66, that would be 132. Do 11 and 12 fit into 132? Yes they do. So the smallest number all 3 denominators fit into is 132. To change 11 to 132, we need to multiply the whole fraction (top and bottom) by 12. To change 12 to 132, we need to multiply the whole fraction (top and bottom) by 11. To change 66 to 132, we need to multiply the whole fraction (top and bottom) by 2. 1/11 + x/12 = 17/66 12/132 + 11x/132 = 34/132 To add fractions with the same denominators, you just add straight across. So we can ignore the denominators at this point and focus on the numerators: 12 + 11x = 34 11x = 22 x = 2 So the missing numerator is 2 👍

You know both numerators so you can match those. To get from 1 to 3, you have to multiply by 3. So if you have to multiply by 3 on top, you have to multiply by 3 on the bottom: 3x9 = 27 So 1/9 = 3/27 👍
