    He divided the equation by theta/theta, which is how he got from the original equation to step 2.

    He multiplied both the numerator and denominator by 1/theta might be a more understandable interpretation for some

    Unnecessarily complex in my opinion . Just point out l’hopitals rule and differentiate. More simple explanation that way !
