This song always reminds me of my husband, who passed away last August. For the first time in awhile, this made me smile! I wasn't the good girl my mom and pops thought I was. When I was 16, I enjoyed drag racing. My dad was always restoring some muscle car. My first car was a 1972 Chevelle and was fast as hell. One Saturday night a boy showed up with his 1969 Nova talking all kinds of smack. His laugh was loud when he found out that I was up next. I was 4'11" and sat on pillows. I got to the line and put my Heart 8 track in the Pioneer system and proceeded to leave him in the smoke! 7 years later I married the boy! We were married for 31 years! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to smile in a week where I just wanted to curl up with my sorrow and sleep

Ann was considered the female Robert Plant. Female rock groups were extremely new and not since Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane had a female shown such powerful vocals The Wilson sisters were more than just a one trick oddity. They were actually talented. Excelling at songwritng and musicality. They lasted on into the 80"s. The music had to change from rock to more middle of the road MTV commercial fodder for the masses. The newer generations wanted the trendy pop glitz and glamor and slick video production. Heart were 70"s girls ...earthy and real. So glad I got to grow up during those times. Good vibes. Great music. The world before high tech. The world before it went mad. Thanks for your reaction and great appreciation of the Wilson sisters and their incredible band. Those guys were a huge part in what made Heart great.

For the 1970's this was considered really aggressive, now it's a true head banger of a tune. As others have said this one is guaranteed to be near the top of the 'Speeding Ticket' playlist! That thumping riff will be stuck in your head for days. Now you've heard it the next time you hear the first 5 or 6 notes and you know it instantly! This is also commonly used when TV shows feature a certain classic American Plymouth Muscle car of the same name.

Respectfully, Sebs, love your reaction, yet the story behind it is best told by the songwriters themselves, as interviewed and pieced together by another KZread classic, Professor of Rock: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXyemqieXaXPfrg.html I hope you don't feel I'm imposing, I presume you will also appreciate the story of the sleazy behaviour that that triggered the creation of this masterpiece of telling off that ****** that dissed these two amazing singing sensations and rock star sisters back in the 70's. This huge hit was the way to put the idiot in his place!

Yeah, bro, that's the studio version dubbed over live footage. Just FYI. '70s Heart was great, before they became an '80s power ballad act. Roger Fisher is one of my guitar inspirations.

For context of how amazing Anne Wilson is. She performed this song with her band a couple of years ago at 70 at Wacken, the biggest Metal festival in the world. And fkn killed it !

I reckon my dad's first wife was a barracuda. He met her in Belgium at the end of the war and fell hard; she wrung what she could out of him over the next few years, then ran off with a younger man. She used him for smuggling - she'd hide things in his luggage without telling him so he looked innocent and wasn't searched at customs! Of course, that only worked until he found out, after which he not only searched his own bags beforehand, he looked nervous and got checked. It was lucky for him she was canny enough to stop before he got arrested, since he'd have got the blame. Anyway, fantastic song!

@@mjg3272 sorry, I don't remember - I was quite young when he told me (sometime in the 70s, he died in 82 after a long illness), so I only remember the broad strokes.

@elvwood Re: your comment, found an interesting article that youtube won't let me link. If you search "Nylon pirates: the postwar craze for cut-price stockings" you can find and read entire article. An excerpt: Postwar Britain was a smuggler’s paradise, thanks to a potent combination of high tariffs, punitive tax rates, rationing, price control and a general scarcity of goods. A ready market existed for anything in short supply. As well as traditional cargoes of tobacco and spirits, smugglers ran tinned foods, butter, cosmetics, razors, records, fountain pens and lighters into the country. Of these novel cargoes, nylons proved the most popular, rivalling the established traffic in tobacco and spirits. And while postwar conditions made smuggling lucrative, they also made it low risk. A manpower shortage left an understaffed Customs department struggling to police the Irish land border, as well as an 11,073-mile coastline and roughly 600 private airfields.
