I love the spicy Sichuan food. As an Englishman, I have to ask at the take-away for authentic Sichuan because they always tone it down for the English who can't handle spicy food. I spent most of my early life in the Far East in Malaysia and Singapore so I'm quite used to some really spicy stuff. Sichuan has always ranked number 1 on my Chinese cuisine list of best foods.

@@joeboii1able Some can, but the majority can't. Chinese take-aways have learned to ease off on the chilli because of this. I spent many years in Asia so I'm used to it and I can't get enough of the spicy foods. If it's not at least Scotch Bonnet strength, I can't even taste the spicy flavour. The same goes for Indian Take-aways, it makes me laugh when English rave about Vindaloo (remember the football song), but they wouldn't be be to handle a REAL Vindaloo.

the egg drop soup with noodles u mentioned is called hor fun 河粉... very common dish here...

Everything looks delicious. And of course I love Mikes enthusiasm. I’m always in awe of how much he can eat.

Booked to go to Singapore and this came just at the right time for me to get excited!

I never had Sichuan until my GF brought me to one. Unfortunately she didnt tell me about not eating the peppers and peppercorns in the sichuan soup. Fondest memory ever was feeling nausea from my peppery, floral filled aroma burps as my stomach was burning from the spices. Ahh what a memorable experience with Sichuan food.

That was me the first time too. I was raised to eat everything on your plate. So, of course, I ate everything. Regretted it later.

@@heythave its called hor fun locally and you can just google for the best. i find that no one place serves it the BEST, the top 10 all tastes equally as good.

Pandan leaves as a flavouring aren't that widespread outside South and Southeast Asia. It smells the same as fragrant rice though. You should be familiar with that.

If you love 月饼、 I suggest that you and Christine take a little tour at Takashimaya (Ngee Ann City) shopping mall atrium in basement 2 (orchard MRT station) where you can view all the various mooncake vendors at once and I’m not sure if sampling has resumed (since Covid) but if there is, you’re in for a treat!

Pepper Twins in Houston had a buffet for a bit at certain locations during the pandemic, it was beautiful

honestly I think these Sichuan dishes are not so authentic, but still looked so good.

Coffee & lotus paste - I'd love to try that.

I enjoy this channel still, but I highly recommend DancingBacons! No talking, showcasing food all around the world from unique vending machines, to unique instant meals, to street food, to fancy dining. It’s a great channel!

You know I've been watching for years and this is the first time I saw that you actually left food behind I remember like in past videos you reminded of how broke you used to be and you would never let a Dish Go uneaten if you were paying for it

Sichuan Cusine is underrated this prolly the best Chinese dishes specially with that Sichuan pepper taste..

I hope you explore all the other ethnic foods in Singapore too

You always seem to find the best looking buffets! Has been years since I've been to an all you can eat place...definitely wanting to go even more now!

I think the pork roll is made with a filling like a XLB (Gelatinized sauce and meat), chilled, shaped and rolled in a rice paper, then folded over fresh mantou dough before steaming

I love salted egg..but usually in a savory setting

Go have Raffles Hotel’s Champagne Truffle Snow-Skin Mooncake. It’s wayyyyyy better than Starbucks. It’s expensive, but you won’t regret it!

How are the hawker centres doing? I ask cause a couple of years ago Anthony Bourdain did a video about them and talked about how some of the food stalls were closing do the owners sadly passing away or retiring and not having anyone or any relatives to pass down all of their recipes to.
