​@@entertainme7523 They would be making thousands of cases so the price would not cost that much extra, if they charged an extra £10 per watch Casio would still be making a massive profit, and it would give their customers a choice on the type of case they wanted.

Casio, please keep it simple! Non mother of pearl grey or black dial, positive display, stainless link bracelet and stainless / gold options.

Casio should bring back 12 melody alarm stainless steel watch.I used it for almost 14 years. A unique piece.

I love your presentation, you matched your shirt to that mother of pearl dial perfectly. Beautiful! I might look out for this on the secondary market if I can grab a bargain. At the moment I am all spent out 😭.

I am so freaking excited about this. I've been using classic Casio watches for years but so frustrated with how the paint wears off and the face scratches. This is even nicer looking than the originals and made of high quality materials. Though I wish they had the superior button layout of the B640WD-1A.

Sometimes when you want something so bad for so long, when it's finally available, you are just gonna be like 'meh...'. Jokes aside, I like the direction they are heading now, we need more premium material in life.

Dear Casio ......bring back more "Marlin"-style modules in stainless steel cases. I would love to see those old school watches once again. Genuine Casio fans like myself would gladly pay a much higher price tag..

Back in the days Casio’s premium watches used to have countdown timer. A feature I use several times a day, while I never ever use the pointless stopwatch!

I really like this one! Classy and quite elegant for a Casio digital watch. Normally I’m not keen on mother of Pearl or MOP effect dials. But I like it here as the effect is rarely used with a digital watch. Also the whole design is quite simple and unfussy. Like no use of multiple colors on the dial for lines and words. If I come across one of these in the shops, I think I’m getting one. I don’t buy online anymore as the postal service in my area is very bad!

Crazy to think that digital watches were the luxury options for many not too long ago.

Cameron Alexander a lot of people who are NOT successful in their lives concentrate on their past and not on their future I have noticed this in my 45 years of living. Me personally when I was 10 years old I was raised by my mother as my father died on the line of duty as a cop and being this in USSR there were no moneys paid to our family so yes we lived very poorly till 1990 and then we came to Canada and thats when i graduated high school and went to collage where i got my diplomas in HVAC field and now still 45 but no where near as before i work only 50% of the year and the rest is when i travel the world on our Yacht with my our kids.

Casio and by extension most Japanese brands follows a weird principle where the JACK up the prices when they sell it outside of Japan or export it.

I've had a love affair with digital watches since my grandfather bought me a Texas Instrument watch about 1979....from Kroger. LOL. It was huge and my mom hated it...I have loved Timex Iron man (one I wore about 13 years) and lots of Casios. THIS is a beautiful watch I want to add to my little collection. Great video!!

I’m a Casio nut , too many to count. I ordered this watch tonight and I can’t wait for it to arrive !! I have some pretty awesome G Shocks among others and this one will sit right up top along side those. Yes , I did bounce the price back and forth but in the end I said to Hell with it, I’ve paid more for vintage watches that I rarely wear so why not this one? Thanks again Casio

Im not a watch collector but this looks pretty cool, id definitely buy it for $100!

We need more products like these for those of us that want an LCD watch but of higher quality than the usual disposable offerings. If they could also increase the accuracy of the movements to +/- 10 secs per month that would be even better.

While I like the stainless steel (SS) case on this watch, when saw this watch I was hoping for basically an A168 in a SS case. For me, the A168 is the perfect watch...except for the case. Then again, I liked the watch so much that I purchased a spare in case the case on my watch gets seriously damaged.

Well it's about time Casio started making retro digitals with Steel cases :)

Nice video. About time Casio figured out that there actually is a marked for reasonable priced full metal digital watches. Espessially those who loved them in the 80's, and can affort watches that cost more than $30. But it actually is almost too late, expectations have risen. So I don't fancy this one. Too simple functionality, boring/fashion style, only 3 years battery, no micro adjustments. I also wish Seiko had picked up this trend/demand some years ago.

Too simple.....? It's a watch homie most people don't need that much seems like a good watch for a semi professional job but the 3 year battery is pretty lame especially with casio standards of battery life

Looks sweet. I bought a 158 on a whim and after a 1.5 years in the trades it’s looking a little haggered. Solid stainless would age a lot better.

I wish they'd do solid bracelet links rather than the cheap folded steel. I think there would be a good chance of the royale being put into production as it would sell out continuosly,much like Q Timex are at the moment.

What you've got is 4 tiny screws that hold the case back on, its not called a screw down case back.

Thanks for putting this video up. I bought an A700 last night and was unaware of this model. Could you please tell me what would be the maximum size wrist this watch will fit? I have an 8" wrist and the A158 just fits my wrist with a little slack. This bracelet is all together different. Thanks.

I think you should be fine. I have an almost 7-in wrist and I had to remove seven links to get it to fit properly which is about an inch and a half of links.

In your video “CA-53WF - Can you tell the time on Casio’s new version of the calculator watch?” there’s a watch you show at the beginning of the video that’s identical to the watch in this video, but it seems to have a negative display on the other video. I would love this watch with the mother of Pearl dial with a negative display sort of like the one shown in the video I mentioned above. If you know what watch I’m referring to, please drop the ref number. Fell in love with it on the other video, but haven’t been able to find it anywhere online. Love your videos in general! Subbed

$100 is a bit steep. I do like the look of the watch and I love that Casio are always coming out with new ideas and designs but I will have to wait for this one to drop in price a bit.

Needs a better module and a screw-back.

Seen some reviews showing some of these not being full stainless.

Ok, so Casio went ahead and finally did an all metal case on this A1000D, making this retro style "158wa looking" watch tough but then they put that very boring white face, and never improved the water resistance value....I absolutely love Casio watches, but this model was a bit counter productive, as far as I'm concerned 😕 What's your opinion on my preference, should it have had at least 50m water resistance, on the all metal case, making it more versatile for everyday activities and more classic aesthetics on the face like the 158wa?

I don’t mind the white face it gives the watch a more classy look to it. Less in your face and if they know they know

Casio has so many digital watches that are made of plastic that would really be cool if they were made of stainless steel. I have both an AE1200WHD that's just painted silver with a hollow stainless steel bracelet. As you can imagine the paint has worn off along the edges and it's pretty easy to scuff. I like the way it looks but it feels really cheap. It looks so worn out after 2.5 years that I seldom wear it. Would be cool if it had a stainless steel case and mineral glass instead of the acrylic crystal. I also have an A500WA. Really looks nice but again it's just painted, but chrome instead of silver. I try to preserve it though. I wish it's bigger too, because it's only something like 37mm or less. Would be cool if it were 40mm or a bit larger and made of stainless steel and mineral glass.

Good idea. Casio watches could last for decades, but when they have a case made of plastic (or "resin" as they say) the lugs will break after a couple of years, you can't wear it any more and its ends up as a pocket watch or back-of-the-drawer watch.

How's that A700 holding up for you? Been eyeing these vintage square casio for a while and the 700 seems like a perfect choice for me

Are you sure that the backlight is electro-luminescent? I clearly see a point white LED at the left edge, like in a 593.

There's definitely an LED there but the entire panel lights up as though it were electroluminescent. It's also listed that way in the specs.

How's the backlight? That would have been an important info.

Cool. I've actually been on the lookout for something like this. I hope that they come up with more color options, though. I'm not a huge fan of the mother of pearl thing.

If they made a direct copy of the A168WEM-1EF in solid 14k yellow with solar charging I'd buy it immediately.

I literally just ordered an invicta pro diver yesterday. If I have seen this sooner I would have definitely bought this watch over the invicta.

Were metal cases common among Casio's watches in the '80s, or did they use resin or some other fake metal look? I think I read the W-780 and W-750 were all steel. Thanks for mentioning that Casio Vintage site. Wasn't aware of it.

Back then, it was black resin or real metal. I was there.

I'm nearly 70. And, believe it or not, I constantly meet young people, under 30, that CAN NOT TELL TIME WITH AN ANALOG CLOCK OR WATCH!!!!!! If the time isn't being displayed in a "Digital Format", these kids are totally helpless! Oh, how I fear for the future of this Great Country, left in the hands of CITIZENS like this! 😕

Analog clocks are archaic and unnecessary. I think it's still worth knowing for now because occasionally someone will expect you do read an analog clock, but it shouldn't be necessary. They need to go away. In fact, the myth that nice watches need to be analog has been a curse that has held back watch advancement for some time.

Now the only thing left is an iced out version

I wish they made the b650 in stainless steel it would be the last whatch I'd buy.

I'm almost with you, except that the B640 has a better button layout. My recollection is that the B650 gets switched into 24 hour mode easily and accidentally. So annoying!

@@bendirval3612 that's true it happens once in a while. But not a deal breaker at all. Size, the square shape and screen size and legibility in the 650 are perfect for me. If anything I'd prefer it came with an oysterish bracelet like in this video.

I hope i can find a stainless steel case like that here
