I also love how neither Arin nor Dan have any memory of them playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or Sonic 3D Blast. The latter I can understand because it was a one-off and the game itself is not too terribly memorable, but they played Sonic 2 in co-op all the way to the end. Dan had that long heartfelt discussion about why he doesn't want to identify as a furry. You'd think that would've stuck with them.

This shows how good the game grumps are at improvising. They had dead time for almost 30 mins and still kept me laughing.

"Birds Aren't Real" is one of those things where you hear it and go "Not only is that not correct, but I can't take the time to point out all the reasons why, because I don't have 6 hours to spare right now."

I still can’t believe last episode. Out of all this game’s levels the one that was Arin’s undoing was the one where Sonic is automated and all you do is move left and right. It’s beautiful. I’ve never seen anyone get a D rank on terminal velocity.

Usually all the bosses are a guaranteed S rank, but despite the odds, Arin managed to get C's and D's for almost all of them. Miraculous.

After watching this series, I can't say "alright" without hearing Arin's Sonic voice in my head.

This playthrough highlights an important issue present in every sonic game, even the classics. By design, these games don't expect you to understand them to beat them, but, paradoxically, understanding the way the games work is kind of essential to have fun playing them. In a sense, having fun in a Sonic game is optional in comparison to other traditional games.

The original Sonic game was designed around the expectation that you would not beat it the first time you played it. You were supposed to replay it a bunch, experiment in every level, and find the fastest route to the end through trial and error. Games really aren't made like that anymore.

I just want to give Arin and Dan mad props for making it through the ENTIRE credits. I am sure that was more agonizing for them than anything, but they stuck it out like troopers. Nice.

Coming into this episode seeing it past 50 minutes I was expecting arin to suffer. Struggling on the last levels…..instead I was met with arin struggling to get past the credits which was more than half the episode itself. Wtf?

And here i thought we'd be in for a whole hour of Arin raging in the final stage. Instead we get Dan losing his mind as he slowly comes to realize just how much work is left to be done...

Credit to Arin. When I saw the finale was an hour long I assumed it was gonna be another “take this” situation. Way to prove me wrong.

They're finally gonna finish SA2! YES! I was honestly scared the first time it was brought up that Arin forgot they hadn't actually finished it.

God, I need to see how Arin reacts when he learns he could boost to make this boss last half as long and get the rings. The severe lack of using boost and wisps in this whole playthrough has been mildly infuriating.

I remember dying of laughter in the first few seconds from Dan being like: "SONIC! TAILS! WHAT THE FUUUU?!?!"

My favourite part of all this is that Arin wanted to play this because of the bugs and there were absolutely zero noteworthy bugs.

I appreciate how they brought back the game for the switch but they left out so many effects from the win that made it look awesome!

The game taught you in the very first level that the boost can attract rings from a distance, but because Arin hates pressing buttons, he just complains that the rings in this boss fight are hard to collect, while also ensuring that the boss takes twice as long because he's not boosting into it for extra damage.

On the show he does, absolutely, if he was playing alone without several hundred thousand people looking over his shoulder expecting witty banter I imagine it would be more conducive to actually learning how to play. Not that I don't find it frustrating to watch, mind you, it's just... I kinda get it you know? If I were playing for people to watch I'd also want to skip past the tutorials and get to the meat and potatoes of the game even if it invited mockery. And there are few people more enjoyable to mock than Arin so those of us whom he frustrates get to have their fun too.

Dan finding out about "Birds aren't real" has to be one of my favorite things ever.

Dan's sigh at 5:00 sounds like 2 years of life force draining

Those credits are inexcusably. They are longer then some of the whole "worlds" they played in the game.

I'm sure a child would prefer to sit on the floor watching an end credit sequence for five or so minutes than having to play a minigame with them for 40 minutes. I always love the frustration in Arin's voice when he remembers he has to actually do something in a Sonic game. The guy is on record, many times in other videos, of saying Sonic games are terrible because they are nothing but "hold right to win," and he gets audibly angry whenever a Sonic game forces him to do literally anything that isn't holding right to win.

This confirms to me Arin got Sonic colours ultimate and didn't put his switch on airplane mode to avoid the game from updating. He's totally playing a patched version like a FOOL. Hell I might even hazard a guess he played a digital version which automatically gets the update as it downloads the game.

id say the biggest glitch of all is arin even beating the game, it was one of the few games i played on the wii(i would like to mention the ds version being more enjoyable) when i was like 10yo or 11yo and i was disappointed by the lack of content cause it took me only a few hours. yet arin somehow manages to take over 5 hours on it, especially looking at the time he took on the final boss

Funny how these rings are hard to get. Wouldn't it be useful if there was an ability to suck in all the rings around you?

If the button is anything other than move forward, jump, or attack, then Arin doesn't think it exists. The dude basically just needs a standard NES controller for every single game or it's too confusing for him.

Imagine being a dev on this game and you somehow STILL got left out of the credits

The makers of the Godot engine, funnily enough. It was used to port the game to modern hardware and they had to patch acknowledgement of the fact into the credits after launch when Godot called them out.

You handled the finale so well! I found it to be funny and felt your pain through the screen

I never thought the day I would be playing a walkthrough the same time as game grumps I grew up watching these guys and now that I’m working in the same field as them is awesome.

It HURTS me that it doesn’t click for them to boost after attacking Eggman to make the boss easier but Arin will just do it out of boredom in the freaking credits lol. Also Danny and Arnold, it’s time to dust off Krampus for Ghoul Grumps this year!

There's no limit in the credits. He feels like he has to save everything, and there's no indication that boosting into the boss will give you an advantage.

Guys, this credit sequence is such a journey: it started fun with cool music, then was over it, it started getting funny, then almost clicked away, then started laughing hysterically, now at 53:00, I had to write this comment - just listening to Dan and Arin go insane 😆😆😆😆 Edit @ 56:10: OMG THERE’S A CUT SCENE

The grumps should play brutal legend. Dan's gonna love watching it and Arin's gonna love playing it.

Or use the Drill Wisp on the ground, or use the Ring-Trail move with the hover wisp, or use the Spin-Dash move with the Spike Wisp, or...

When you erroneously assume that Sonic games are nothing but running and jumping, that's all you're gonna do. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy - Arin thinks Sonic games are boring, so he plays them as if they are boring, thereby making them boring.

@@jbwarner8626 Yes, that's because they are boring. And poorly designed. If you can finish the game with only running and jumping, why are the other abilities even there?
