I never get tired of watching this ending
Literally one of the best endings for a movie. It's not about the man saving the woman, she saves him and he carries her off to a new life.

Both saved each other. She saved him from his childhood trauma about his mother's suicide and not wanting to open up to people because of it, and he saved her from her fear of being abandoned like when her father abandoned her mother after she got pregnant. They were both broken people with fear of commitment, Paula just didn't hide her feelings for him, while Zack was afraid she'd end up like his mother and his friend so it took longer with him.

Perfect ending
Picture perfect ending of an all time classic & timeless movie boosted by one of the greatest songs ever. Just WOW. Rest in peace, Louis Gossett Jr.
my girlfriend knew I wanted to marry her but she was afraid so she "ran away", then 3 months later she called me and said to come and get her. I drove 950 miles over 17 hours and we got married in Vegas on our way back to California. Watching this always gives me the same feeling I had when I saw her again. the best ending to a movie and I didn't even see it coming.

Up to An Officer And A Gentleman, America was making loads of cynical films with anti heroes and grim storylines. Then this came along and it was the story of a man with nothing going for him and a bad attitude overcoming his problems, falling in love and becoming a navy officer.

Try Watching The End Of SOMEWHERE IN TIME 1980!!
A movie that I will never get tired of watching. Truly one of the greats. There's nothing, absolutely nothing, better than when the individual overcomes adversity, internal and external, made their life better, and are now on the path to fulfill their highest human potential.

This song marked the rise for WIll Jennings. He co-wrote many hits with Steve Winwood including Valerie, Higher Love; co-wrote Tears in Heaven with Eric Clapton, 9 years later; wrote My Heart Will Go On with the late James Horner. I Saw that film in Czech language too but at the ending scene wasn't Theme from Officer and Gentleman, but the Love Theme from Lee Ritenour. With the same ending but with another music. Is the "alternative" ending scene??

Der Film ist super!!!!❤
And, then, Ross and Rachel in Friends S2, reenacted this scene, almost to the gestures.
... and now the work begins.
When I watch this scene, I think of the spoof in The Simpsons where Marge goes to the nuclear plant and she sees Homer. They share a romantic moment like this and everyone applauds for them

Debra Winger may have been unhappy with the production but wow she was great in this movie. Richard Gere couldn't have been better. John Travolta passed on this which was a huge mistake. Gere captured the young stud actor in his prime as well as anyone ever has. Fantastic and for me top 10 movie of all time.
Great scene. Especially when she puts his hat on her head

If you had ever worked in a mill, you would know how stupid your statement was. You get paid by quota and all bonus pay depends on the amount of material you process. The pay and the bonuses are comparable to waitress pay. I worked in a clothing factory. Been there...done that. Never again. Screw the feminist movement. It never made it out of D.C. or New York.
