Man I'm so excited for this game. Since I've fallen off the XIV train, I'm excited to get some new content from this team again!

It's almost unbelievable how the last 3 years have been the best time to be a Final Fantasy fan, but SE just keeps on delivering on all fronts, and XVI proves 2023 will be no different.

Absolut crazy that all of that is show in real time in-game Graphics. No CGI or pre-renderd cutscenes that even beautiful Games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Last of Us 1 Remake or Rachet & Clank used. That shows what the PS5 can really do. It's amazing.

it's not powerful enough to do 4k/ 60fps yet... most ps5 games has performance mode, 4k still run at 30fps

The last of us part 1 remake does not use any pre rendered cutscenes. Everything in that game is real time as the real time visuals surpassed the pre rendered visuals of the 2013 original game. My source is digital foundries deep dive on the game.

Who!!! All my goodness! . . . Ok I haven't seen this trailer. This was really sick! I love it. I agree I definitely used to pronounce "Ifit the same way you do. Final Fantasy finally going back to its roots. The very first games were dark. I like dark stories. Not going to lie,I was very surprised by that released date,that is really early.

I love how you approach these breakdowns from such a conceptual and narrative/story telling perspective and why the devs might be doing things. I can tell you’ve studied these things and it’s such a refreshing take!

Immersing myself in the environments is one of my favourite things about RPGs so I’d like to see what the towns and villages are like in FF16.

I Agree with you about Final Fantasy 15 visual scale for the Gods and Deities but also it did a decent job to involve them in the narrative. Also Final Fantasy Type-0 did a pretty good job at that as well. I look forward to playing this game and watching you play it :)

This trailer and the Endwalker trailer definitely give me a very similar vibe, and both bring a tear of excitement to my eye - also it will always be IF-RIT instead of IF-REET for me too!

Good trailer, I'm excited for this game. I like how much focus and what role the summons play in this game. The combat certainly looks like some of this most action-oriented for FF yet, closer to a Devil May Cry game, which may be a learning curve for some not accustomed to that style of mechanics (constant shifting of weapons/abilities, combo-ing) but I'm sure the game will ease players into it. Hopefully it's easy to play but complex to master.

What is really impressive to me is, that everything shown is realtime ingame graphic being used, even the mass battle with Odin. No pre-rendered cutscene as Yoshi P. said. I think the character models however are graphically slightly better in FF7 Remake.

@@louiskusters9452 omg LOL Joshua and clive look like puppets in the very beginning. @1:08 min. Like upgraded FF14 models.. same for her female party member and all. They look like FF14 MMORPG models And the facial expressions, too.. look at barret in the yuffie DLC FF7 intergrade.. there are worlds in between. Barret looks like a real human. If you are talking about random NPC in FF7, yes. FF16 models are *okay* but definately not PS5 level.

I learned how to pronounce Ifrit correctly in DuckTales 2017 S2E8. The warrior mentions the Ifrit Storm constantly! This scenario feels like Game of Thrones politics mixed in with the Jinchuuriki from Naruro, except instead of tailed beasts we have kaiju sized summon monsters. I think I like it. I am very interested in the combat, ability, and equipment systems. Final Fantasy is filled with unique ways of gaining abilities through side-quests, strategic armor optimization, or a sphere grid, so I always want to see what they do next and how to build an awesome team! Oh speaking of teams, looks like we have a team of four, and a dog is one of our party members!!!! Yes! I have been waiting for this for a long time. It will be wonderful to return to Final Fantasy again. Could you believe at one point they would launch one game every 17 months in the 90's and early 2000's? Those were the days...

From my experience of playing the FF series over 30 years and more, the main characters turning into the summons seems very different from just being the summoners class that we know of, for instance, they are the ones actually becoming the espers or aeons, depending on the universe involved, the names of the summons differ. It's interesting that the characters shown act as the host of these summons and it seems to imply it can gradually consume the host themselves as Clive was questioning himself or Ifrit who is in control of the biological body. This trailer looks exciting and I cannot wait to see more of its battle mechanisms. Like how the bow and arrows work, if any... Looking forward to the game and eventually Bri showing us the playthrough as well. 😁 Don't worry about calling Ifrit, "Ifrit", I had the same pronunciation for decades lol. So, it's If...Reet. Just found out the summons called Eikons in FFXVI. Those familiar with FF IX, the summoner was called Eiko and might find the given name intriguing. The Odin design did not seem to change too much, it was actually VII and then VIII that I came across this particular summon, stuck in my head since.

Kind of reminds me how the Guardian Forces in Final Fantasy 8 seemed to consume or take place of some of the memories of Squall and company.

@@bardinblue9830 GF was introduced as summons that helps the protagonists, but draining their life force aka HP at the same time when equipped, a doubled edged function. Also, in regards to the summon Odin in VIII, it was shocking too, but I will speak no more, so others can enjoy the game someday.

@@pakyip9267 Indeed... Odin and Gilgamesh didn't function quite the same as the rest of the GF's. Plus there were special items to summon Moombas and a Chocobo Chick (I think) that weren't exactly available to those of us in the U.S. because we didn't have a certain PlayStation peripheral that was available in Japan and Europe.

The Ambition trailer is the best trailer so far imo. I'm not sure if you've checked it out by now but I would love to see a reaction.

I know we've had FF14 (which is great, obviously) but it's still really cool to be getting a more "traditional" fantasy setting in FF in a single player story focused mainline entry again.

1:21 this scene and 1:50 that enemy with armor riding on horse reminds me of Berserk. Gorgeous trailer. I wish combat style become like Dragon's Dogma and the lord of the rings the return of the king

Looking at the combat and UI it is a mix of FF and Dragon Dogma and Maehiro states that Berserk is one of the influences of this game.

@@darthacez wow! I also thought it must be just a coincident but I was right about Berserk. FF7re's combat wasnt so good for me. I also like Fate: The cursed king battle system. using magic and item should be part of battle, not like choosing them like old rpg style. its good to select attack magic by L button and R button for cure magic and such and 〇 button to use the selected magic.

FFXVI looks amazing, I really want to play it 😎 👍.

Garuda looks absolutely horrifying! It looks like Summons are finally being used in a way where they truly come off as absolute monster killing machines…..just like how they used to be.

I've seen a lot of people commenting on his pronunciation of "Ifrit". I was talking about this with one of my best friends, who happens to be a history teacher and PhD with an immense fascination for Arabian/Islamic culture and mythology/beliefs and after I showed him this trailer, he told me that Clive's pronunciation of Ifrit in this trailer is much more accurate to the source of the word's origins, definitely not perfect, but much better when compared to the majority of english speakers out there.

3:15 Fun fact: Ifreet is actually the right pronunciation not Ifrit, Ifreet is the name of a "Devil" in old middle eastern mythology and they pronounce it as Ifreet so props to the Square enix localization team for nailing it down.

The Ambition trailer was the best one they put out so far. I don't feel like I got much from this new one.

It is interesting how "Summoned Monsters" are identified as something different in each Final Fantasy main and spin-off game. Starting in FF's 3, 4, and 5, they're just "Summoned Monsters" (until later editions of 4 start calling them "Eidolons"). In 6, they're called "Espers". In 7, they're not given a name, just summoned with red Materia. 8 calls them "GF" or "Guardian Forces". 9 has the first appearance of the term "Eidolon". 10 and 10-2 call them "Aeons". 11 calls them "Avatars". 12 is interesting, as the Ivalice Alliance games have both traditional Final Fantasy summons and thirteen zodiac-based special creatures known as "Espers", "Lucavi", or "Totema". Revenant Wings seems to call both kinds of creatures "Espers". 13 reuses the term "Eidolon" or "Fal'Cie" depending on the creature and its role. 14 calls them "Primals", 15 calls them "Astrals". And 16, "Eikons"... That's a LOT of different words to describe pretty much the same thing! 😅

Pet the dog - 10/10 game. If anything happens to the dog, SE will be getting my therapy bills 😠 I feel the same as you though. I was sold on the game since the first trailer because it's Final Fantasy, but I don't feel like I know much or anything at all about the characters and even the plot really. And that just makes me feel meh. It makes me worried they won't be personable in game. However this could be a good thing. Square loves to give you pretty much everything in trailers, so maybe they learned from feedback and changed it up. So for me it adds on to the intrigue of wanting to play the game to find out more

Yup CBU1 and CBU3 marketing are very different. CBU1 usually show a lot of character’s personality and eventually spoilers -take a look at CCR final trailer😶 - when it comes to CBU3 they keep things under wrap very well and they don’t usually give out spoilers in trailers. We just have to go open minded into the game.

Just noticed that ff7 it's the only game from the playstation era that summons are not the main focus of the game in ff8 some ff9 everything ff10 same every ff game has the summons involved

Its looking pretty good, we don't usually get a rapier-wielding character, so that looks cool. I'll say the two big things that really bugged me about 15 was that the "love story" if you can call it that was just one big j'bait, that and having the same four dudes in your party the entire game was bland and boring (also lazy fashion with everyone just wearing all black). To me, the romance factor in FF games is important, so those will be major things I'll be looking for improvement on in 16.

Well if you can pet dog in the game, it might be good game?

If-reet is the way it's meant to be said, but that doesn't stop all of us from calling him Ifrit instead, lol.

They’re saving the characters’ depth for in game and later marketing starting around Feb/March. CBU3 is keen on putting spoilers in the trailers (unlike CBU1).

Yeah ff15 was open world, but it was empty, hopefully not the case for ff16
