It's really obvious from all these trailers that this is a very confident vision of Final Fantasy. A coherent and lore-rich story, epic gameplay, epic moments, epic music. Much more confident than the messy FFXV.

This looks like a very safe and by the numbers FF. At least XV was willing to take risk and actually have a bold vision while having 2 1/2 years of full production, while XVI had 8 years to cook.

@@thedarkside3899 I'd assume in the first few days of July so it falls in the second fiscal quarter. They tend to release stuff around then.

The website indicates that Clive and Joshua suffer a tragedy of some sort. The first trailer had us believing that was Joshua’s own death at the hands of Ifrit, and maybe that is the case. Yet it is also confirmed that their father is murdered right in front of the boy… so could that be the tragedy? Could Joshua be alive throughout the game, living in exile, powering up his Phoenix powers? I kind of hope so.

Taking a stab, but the crownless kings are all these folks with the transformational powers that are default rulers because of it, not cause they're necessary worthy. Or at least, it's how it seems in my head.

10:07 For me, the best use of a prolonged prologue like that was Kingdom Hearts 2. Many of us had waited a long 4 years for the sequel, and when the game itself finally came out... it refrained from giving us Sora for another 2-3 hours. But by the time the title actually appears, it comes at the cost of a character we grew quite attached to and sympathetic for. Wouldn't surprise me if FF16's title appears after an entire lengthy arc, though much darker in tone of course

Looks beyond epic. I've been into FF for over 20 years, and my hype for this is huge!

Totally agree with Huber that the voice early on in the trailer sounds like Ralph Ineson from The Witch. He was also in Game of Thrones for a bit in season 2 as one of the Ironborn. And a whole bunch of other things of course, but those and the original UK The Office are the main things I know him from. There's nothing on imdb yet about FFXVI's voice cast, but I really wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be him. His voice is pretty distinct.

Literally searched this on imbd straight away from the trailer too lol. He also does voice over for TalkSport Radio adds. Was similar with Wedge/Badger Ff7R/ Breaking Bad. There’s another character in this trailer that maybe sounds abit like Jeremy Irons? (Scar - Lion King)

The FFXIV voice cast from Heavensward on is full of Game of Thrones actors, so I'd buy it.

@Fusajiro the eikons are bellow him though and they are rising up to meet him either as a friend or an enemy, maybe its some form of the mother crystal unless... clive is not ifrit carrier and he is some form of half alien human hybrid that absorbs eikons and this would be his final form also a reference to sephiroth i say half human because we dont know who clive's mother is the king had a new wife after his birth

I agree! That’s what I disliked about ff12. It has always seemed to me that Japanese artists prefer European looking character models-just look at any anime. Then, in the few occurrences of African, Indian, or like, Mexican characters, we just get walking stereotypes. It also begs the question: Why aren’t more Japanese-created characters Japanese??

It's a bit weird indeed to have such a variety in environnements to only have "generic" characters... In general, the overall character design is not mind blowing, in my opinion. Can't wait for this game, nonetheless

This happens when you have a great visionary run game unlike hack Tabatha who destroyed ff15.

I'd love a true open world Final Fantasy. I want to be more excited for this than I am, but nothing really stands out, sadly. And the digital orchestra makes it feel cheap. I was burned with FFXV and Remake. I did have fun with XV but it was unfinished. And (I know I'm in the minority here), remake felt cheap to me. Like it would've been exciting a decade previous but didn't really hold up to current standards of gaming. Part of that is feeling like a second class citizen with OG PS4, not even having a day one update, or any updates to fix the glitches and bugs. Anyway, I have fond nostalgia for PS1 era FF games and I was kinda hoping they'd revisit a world like IX, but they've really leaned into the hard fantasy. Which could be good, and I hope it's great, but at this point I feel like FF has had its day in the sun.

Ff15 WAS a true open world. That was part of the problem. It's important to note that ff16 is being made by square's creative unit 3, who make ff14. It'll likely be zone based, which is a superior choice for a map involving several kingdoms.

Hard pass - and I had to abort the trailer halfway through. When you have such an awesome graphics engine, then this whole anime sytle doesn't quite fit anymore. It looks like guys in their mid fourties or mid sixties try to look like teenager. Grow up!!!

Anime style isn't limited to young characters, what weird take is this. It's actually leaning too much in the realistic direction for me which is definitely just personal preference. Maybe lose some of that elitism, you'll have more fun that way.
