They stopped doing veteran rewards because they made the very valid point that unless you started playing at launch, you would not be able to collect all the rewards and would never be able to collect newly released ones. That's why the capped it at 1 year and switched everything over to achievement points where you can choose what items you want when you want them. Also, the Stormblood preorder earrings did work for EVERYTHING up to level 50. They also gave a flat stat boost, so at early levels (up to 35or 40ish IIRC) they hands down are the strongest earrings you can get. And since they work for crafting and gathering, they cost you a little bit in stats, but more than make up for it in exp gain. Great for when you feel the desire to roll up yet another alt for no particular reason...

Except there is only 1 vendor for the Achievement Point stuff and you can very easily buy everything on it multiple times just by finishing ARR. I think point I have almost 8K achievement points and nothing to spend them on.

Earring also gives boost in all dutys what are lvl 90 or under no matter your actual lvl. So lets say that you're already lvl 92 and get Syrcus Tower where you're lvl 50. You get that 30% exp boost.

You gotta do the healer role quests in Endwalker if you want more Fordola and Arenvald!!! Their work and what they do during the final days is so good and so many people miss it because they dont heal :c

Agreed! The best role-quest for EW was healer. The rest is pretty much a tied second (even if it was a bit repetetive but I loved visiting old friends again).

Can we just talk about how it looks like our man is getting some freaking SLEEP?

This man was willing to get up and talk about the issues and bad times of game dev, and you gotta respect that. It's rare to see that kind of discussion with an audience when it isn't a "we heard the millions of complaints and we're working on it" kind of discussion.

I've been playing this game so long that Yoshi P cover 1/3rd of my sub and gave me a neat Meteor tattoo and seeing the explosive growth since SHB has been amazing. I feel like a real grognard with all these sprouts running around.

Its in Boston, there's a Dunkin every block, and I think 2 in the convention center

Eureka is great, it's like wearing a warm sock. There's a community and once you do it a few times it's like going to the bar, everyone is just there to vibe.

I’m still not a big fan of eureka considering I enjoyed bozja waaaaayyyy more. However grinding for the elemental armor was one of the most statisfying and rewarding grinds I have ever done in this game

I got all of the Eureka weapons and looking back I really enjoyed my experience. The Anemos zone is definitely super cozy imo. When I was grinding through it however... I freaking hated it. Especially with the instance lockouts. Those would completely ruin your experience at random.

I killed the Empower 50 times to get the hair pin. After that I promised to never go back. During my grind I became famous as "That Elezen that is always grinding Emperor"

As someone who was in the crowded in person the energy in the room was exhilarating if anyone has the chance try to go one of these events in person it’s a great experience

So as a huge 9 fan and FF fan and 14 Fan here is some info and connections ive developed over the years. Shadowbringers' Solus and Emet Selch (and Hades) and the sundering are both taken from the FF9 Garland story and Hades (the original final boss). Amaurot the city and Dungeon were taken from the final zone in 9, "Memoria" where as you go through it, Garland narrates like Emet did Amaurot. In general the original unsundered world is very reminicent of Terra from 9. Spoilers for 9 but this is where i came from with these thoughts. In 9 Garland was from long in the past, a Genome from Terra made to carry the souls of their people after Terra died with the soul goal of bringing back their people. They fused Terra with Gaia but there were issues and the Terrans souls were merged with the Gaian people. This is all very similar to how the Anchients were sundered and reborn into the new world and Emet wants to rejoin the worlds to save his peoples souls. Also Hades is in Memoria in 9 also and looks identical to his 14 version. Hades was ment to be the original final boss before it was changed last minuet to Necron. Perhaps having Hades as the end of Shadowbringers was their way of doing that original 9 ending they wanted to have. With Endwalker patch content we did get Zero and the 13th to be reveled as being Memoria which is interesting and im curious where they do with that later. Is the 13th going to be FF9 world?

Another thing I'm wondering is if this "warmonger" found in the new world will be a direct reference to Brahne, and a Kuja-esque figure will be whispering sweet nothings in his ear to try and push for war much like Kuja did with Brahne.

They're pushing FF9 references HARD though. At first, Viper was just a kind of one-off to me as being a Zidane reference, but now the Ark mount and the Zidane/Garnet minions tells me there's going to be a hell of a lot more involving 9.

The earrings apparently actually will give you a bonus while you are at level 90 too, so it should help for at least 1 level on all the other jobs a bit.

i wonder what they gonna do with lvl cap at the future? maybe 100 lvl of main class and 10lvl of multiclass per expansion?

hmm I was really hoping the requirements weren't going up that much and it's not a huge jump so that's good. Hopefully will still be getting around 20 fps in busy areas/times/busy fights/etc. Can't afford to upgrade from my current laptop at this time as more important things are needing the money. But it's gonna be fun expansion, even if not playing at high graphic settings to enjoy the really craziness the game can look at high settings and not getting those crazy fps numbers/smooth running, if wanna play a fun game gotta settle on what can get with what have access to :).

I think 9 is going to be the "main" tribute like 4 was for EW. It's not like there weren't plenty of references to other games in the series, but IV was clearly singled out and got the Digital Collector's Edition minion and store mount.

Love him talking about the "thinking with your own mind. Coming up with your own strategies." Thing. It's the whole reason I prefer solo play. I hate going into a dungeon that is brand new for me only for the tank to just rush us thru the whole thing at a break neck speed, thus not actually even giving me the CHANCE to learn. And the only time I've ever had fun fighting a Primal was when it was literally JUST sprouts and NONE of us knew what we were doing. We wiped so many times and slowly had to learn all the mechincs ourselves. When we finally won it was the most rewarding thing ever! Most run I've ever had playing a multiplayer game.

It wasn't really a theory so much as a literal reference to Zidane's LB from FF9. Way more than just being "on to something".

FF14 already has table mission. It's when you send your retainers out. The difference being it's some small little thing on the side and not one of the main goddamn focuses.

I stopped playing FF14 like a year ago. But as a massive FF9 fanboy, I'm feeling the pressure to go back.

FF9? I guess my return to XIV is set in stone.

Not only would lalafell riding other players would be cool, but imagine if the opposite could happen. But instead of having a tiny lalafell lifting a huge player (which would be funny to see a buff lalafell, however it could get hard to see with the model scales and such) the lalafell levitates the other player with some magic or technology, or maybe a lalafell gets a giant mech suit to lift the other player? Or if you want to take a page from the ff11 crossover event, maybe the lalafell drinks a potion and grows in size to be a giant lalafell. Go crazy with the silly ideas, it would be great!

I mentioned this when the first teaser dropped, and now that he's talking more about the gameplay changes, I'm so holding onto one thing. There was a stretch of teaser they had that didn't seem to show anything, so most people ignored it. Remember the standoff the WoL had just waiting for an attack, then he fails and gets lit of fire? That was weird to me. He did it again then viper pops out. I can imagine a parrying like system fitting in to keep people on their toes.

It's either $13 or $15, and that's just the base payments. There is the companion app for $5, additional retainers for anywhere from $2-$16? More a month as well, so even if you factor in the free accounts you can think that about a quarter of them are covered by others lol.

You mention how you dont want them to force you to be online more and not wanting to be like WoW, and while I totally agree, FFXIV has the polar opposite problem. There's too many times with too much of the playerbase that feels they have absolutely NO reason to be online at all. That's the issue. It's an MMO that you complete the patch content in 1-2 days a leisurely pace while you now.. have the rest of the month that you paid for with nothing to fill the time with. For people who have been playing the game for a long time, it's even worse of an issue. And it's also more of an issue if you're not so interested in collecting content or craft/gather content. And want to engage with.. the core MMORPG aspect. There's a vast ocean between FFXIV not giving you a reason to log in at all (aside from maybe your house) and WoW having you log on all the time. People just want a reason to play the game more often and in particular engage with the combat system. Being made to log in more is the last problem FFXIV has.

Registered Unique accounts means absolutely nothing. Concurrent subscribers are what count.

"otherwise useless" Damn dude, i use my Menphina Earrings still today, helps A LOT leveling other jobs. But if you are a streamer who play only one job, do only one thing and nothing else outside views revenue in mind...yeah, i suppose is useless.

All I wanted was for jobs to feel unique in playstyle again. From what I've seen, this won't be the case. I hope I'm wrong, but I guess the game isn't for Titanslayers anymore.😅

lmao enjoy your game who's servers can't even handle 2 million concurrent players, once you get tired of this homogenized trash we will welcome you back to the superior mmo :)

And another reason I probably won't play FF14. Not because it looks bad, it looks awesome, but it just is too much. It was too much before this expansion, and it is even more after.

What do you mean by too much? If you mean cost, I'm pretty sure getting the newest expansion also gets you the previous ones. I could be mistaken about that. On top of that half the game is free (up to and including ARR, Heavensward and Stormblood.) Or are you referring to content amount?

@@petertriller8343 The great thing about FFXIV content is that it'll always be there waiting for you. Players are encouraged to play at their own pace, take breaks, etc. There's no need to rush to endgame. All the old content is still active thanks to two systems. One is everyone is given extra rewards when running content with someone who hasn't run it before. The second is the level sync system which sets people's levels and gear back to appropriate levels for when that content was current. There's even a setting to reduce gear to the minimum item level (iLevel) for that content to make it feel closer to when it first came out. And if that content is too difficult there's a system called The Echo. This gives an increasing buff to players stats for each time they try and fail, excluding content called Ultimates which are meant to be the hardest challenging content.
