How different would this run be on the DS version?

Quite a bit, because DS is automatically Hard mode (and the run here on Steam is on Normal mode) meaning enemies would tank way more hits and deal way more damage too. DS also runs on.... well the DS, with way WAY slower Hardware. Every encounter loses like 2 to 3 seconds due to loading the encounter. Load times in general on DS are really bad compared to PC. Also, PC exclusively has a glitch that is not apparent on DS or even on the Phone version of the game, which is the Mini Reverse glitch in this run, which changed the route A LOT. Also, DS does not have auto saves, meaning if you get a Game Over on DS and you never saved it's run over, however if I get a game over here, it respawns me the last time I got an autosave (which is after specific places and right before an encounter). So in short, quite different. There is a Japanese DS Speedrun of FF4 on Speedrun dot com (I'm saying dot instead of . to prevent it from becoming a link), google that if you're interested. I also DID do a Hard mode Speedrun back in the day on Steam which can also be found either on this channel or on Speedrun dot com. Hope this helps :)

@@velvetbutterfly I've spent over 500h playing the Steam version alone. I gotta put those hours to good use somehow xD By sharing the knowledge I've acquired throughout the years of playing and running the game(s), I do exactly that. Thats one of many reasons why I wanted to start making youtube content besides speedrunning. Trying to speak my thoughts about things I've played or invested a lot of time in and show it to everyone who is interested. Glad it helped :)

Amazing video!! I watched the whole thing. Was there any runs you uploaded did not use the mini reverse glitch? Just want to learn how the strategies would change lol!

Thank you! If you want to watch a run without Mini Reverse glitch. watch one of my first 1 or 2 runs of this speedrun. Uploaded around 2019 and about 5h long. A lot has changed since then thus the timesave :D Hope i was able to help :)

I didn't have time to watch the whole thing so I watched some of the boss fights. One question I have on the strat is bringing Kain's health down low (either by Kain attacking himself or X-Potion at Zeromus). You might have mentioned it during the play through but could you describe what bringing Kain's health to critical low does in the game or what the strategy is? Thanks!

During the run we get an Augument called Adrenaline. Adrenaline increases (basically doubles) the damage output if the character using it is in critical HP, making Kain an incredible damage dealer
