Final Fantasy 7 Remake - Chapter Breakdown Review (Spoilers)

Ойындар

I don't recommend taking a drink every time I say "original" in this review. Anyway, enjoy. Even with how long this is, I still wanted to say more and clarify things more, but really didn't want to go over the 1 hour mark. This is the last review I'm doing for Part 1, super excited for part 2 in the coming years.

    I want you to upload a video of you battling Hell House on Hard mode. It is still kicking my ass. I'm not sure what it is. I think it's the mechs at the end, mainly. I'm close to finishing the extra challenges that require hard mode to get the Gottedemerung.

    I thought the game was honestly surprisingly tough on normal but on hard mode once you learn a lot of the tricks and how to set your team up, the difficulty falls like a sack of bricks. It was almost like how in the normal mode you said the scorpion boss gatekeeps you to figure out how to manage in the game I felt the same on Hard mode.

    Hard Mode mostly depended on what you figured out, but I still think quite a few bosses were pretty intense on Hard, while on Normal you have many chances to survive a fight, just usually ended up being sloppy.

    @@Bizkit047 That's true. Hard mode bosses like hell house, Reno and Rude, and Sephiroth were tougher than most of the other hard mode bosses. Normal since items are better than most early game magic, players end up relying on them for their playthrough

    Great review :) Honestly for some reason I never got bored with most of the parts alot of people call padding. Maybe it was just cause I liked the combat so much. Even platinumed the game and the only real part I felt dragged on too long was getting all the dresses.

    To be honest, the "You still owe me a pizza" line hit me pretty well emotionally. In a situation where someone you care for is literally dying in your arms, you would say anything to let them keep their will to stay alive, even when you know it’s too late. It was much sweeter than simply saying "You owe me a date" or something. In my opinion at least...

    18:25 The only thing I hated about this chapter, as someone who only did one playthrough, is the Wall Market theme song. I loved the original theme so much but the one from the remake just sounds like a bunch of random noises that hurts my ears.

    "I can't imagine how it'd be if the Xenoblade series forced you to complete sidequests to continue with the story" Xenoblade X sidequests are practically required because of the level restrictions for story, and Torna sidequests are LITERALLY required. Meanwhile, you could skip FF7R's sidequests and not have too much issue.

  • @Bizkit047

    @Bizkit047

    In Xeno X case, that's still not required, just recommended. Torna I haven't played yet. But as for Xeno 1 & Xeno 2, you never have to, just a smarter idea to do at least some of them as you progress

  • @aneonfoxtribute

    @aneonfoxtribute

    @@Bizkit047 Yeah but I don't remember a time in FF7R where sidequests are actually required. As you said for X, they're recommended. But I would say X is more recommended, and as a result closer to required just because of the level requirement for story.

  • @nesoukkefka1741

    @nesoukkefka1741

    @@aneonfoxtribute Well the problem with FF7R is the sidequests are locked to a specific chapter, meaning if you want to do everything you have to stop progressing through the story and do them, or finish the game and access the chapter selection option, where as in Xeno 1 and 2 for the most part you can focus on the story and do the quest later.

    @@nesoukkefka1741 I suppose they were opening the chapter select system would be the answer to that problem, but it's still really cumbersome. Hopefully going forward, you'll be able to go back to towns you visit. It would suck if every town was totally self-contained, though now that I write it out, it seems to be the likely case.

    Cloud implied there that he saw her 5 years ago, but it was Zack that Tifa interacted with back then, while Cloud was just a normal solider hiding from Tifa during that visit, so to her it was much longer than 5 years. if part 2 opens the same as original, Cloud will talk about the visit as if he's Zack and confuse Tifa, but she won't mention anything yet.

    It confuses me to why they didn't have the bomb Cloud and company plant be as powerful as implied from the original, thus making Shinra themselves destroy their own reactor to devastation. Also seems a bit much with how much they showed off Sephiroth. They could have still had him but obscure his face or don't show him in full until later in the game I think might have been a little better? Showing a bit of restraint and teasing for fans, old and new alike instead of just having him in full so many times throughout the game. For Chapter 4, would it had hurt the budget or the game to have Jessie, Biggs and Wedge to not wear their armor to distract Jessies mom? Yes, in the original they didn't but I can forgive that due to pixel limits on a disc and a weaker system than modern systems, which are basically computers. But, since the modern day machines are more powerful and there's more resources to give more detail, would it had been so hard to have them just wear their normal clothing without the armor pieces or change the colors to show a change of clothes from their Avalanche outfits when going to speak to Jessie's mother and distract her? It bothers me that in a modern game which has multiple dresses for Cloud that they couldn't design simple common person clothes/their outfits without any armor pieces for one scene. They could have had them have their armor with them in a bag or something that is kept outside to put back on after they were done. For Chapter 13, doesn't Aerith in the remake tell them that she got Marleen out safely in the video call? If I'm remembering watching a playthrough, she did so if she did then him thinking his little girl is dead is an odd writing choice. The Whispers aren't very consistent. They are supposed to keep things on track yet they don't kill Wedge until much later than when he's supposed to had died. I am curious to try playing the Remake but I think I'm going to end up waiting until all the parts are done and just pay one price for all of it. That way if there's any DLC or additions made later, I'm not feeling like I must pay extra for that in case a definitive edition is ever released with all the parts and any additions. Good review -nods~

    For Red, Square could've easily had playable guest characters with Red being one of them. Easy way to have people still have a playable Red and other fan favorites without needing to flesh out his moveset. No excuse at all.

    Why have a dumbed down version of Red playable in the first place? That seems pointless and boring. The whole point of the combat system is each character has solid depth
