Ok, stealing your 4 year old daughter's teddy bears "because she didn't notice" is straight up abuse. You wanna know why she didn't notice? She's 4. What she will have instead is a lack of ability to own anything, because there's no point because things just keep disappearing. From personal experience, that's an awful fucking thing to do to a child.

It is. I have people very close to me whose parents used to do that, and now they're crippled by the idea of buying anything that's not immediately utilitarian because they have a deep-seated belief that the object will just disappear, because their parents threw everything they ever loved away. Children do not have the concept of object permanence (look it up); that takes years to develop, and key to the whole process is having reliable, familiar, and constant surroundings, most helpfully, with an object(s) that have emotional grounding; for instance, a favoured teddy bear. Teddies especially have an important role to play, because they are comfort objects. Children anthropomorphize them, "befriend" them, and often keep them well into adulthood. I don't know a single adult friend who hasn't kept their childhood comfort objects, because it has such strong emotional relevance. Not allowing a child to develop that "because it was dirty" is literally disgusting behaviour, not to mention the peak of selfishness. If you're not prepared to be at least a little bit selfless, you have no business becoming a parent.

Gave him a weird sense of personal space and self doubt in a lot of different aspects of his life that he's getting help for now but not allowing people autonomy over their items and self is really destructive.

Interestingly I’ve noticed in a couple of the episodes of this and some other shows that the “hoarders” or “messy people” have parents who are relentless clean. I also had a mum who cleans RELENTLESSLY and I struggle with throwing things away etc and cleaning. 1) because she would always do it for me so I don’t know how to and 2) because I see it as some form of rebellion? Or perhaps it brings me comfort to keep the mess and clutter. Note: I am no way as bad as any of these people but watching this show actually helps me in remembering how to do it all and what happens if I don’t stay on top of it lol

She 100% is going to make her daughter a hoarder because her daughter will have an unhealthy attachment to belongings when she is older because of this. I know my daughter has way too many teddies but I encourage and ask her to consider donating so that when she does, she gets positive words and feels she is actually in control so hopefully, she will see when she is older, you don't need to have 1000s of possessions.

He is a cleaner, he knows how it goes, but when one is depressed, one just comes home and goes to bed (either to sleep or day dreaming). And after a while one has piles and piles of things and it is too much and then it does indeed get overwhelming and one doesn't know where to start.

ikr. sometimes bleach may be needed if its extremely dirty, but more eco products that will break down soon in nature are better, even just vinegar is fine. if i want to do "deep" cleanse i use plant based sponge and more eco dish soap. seems to work fine. i still need that clean smell but luckily they usually have a mild lemony scent or such.

Not to discourage anyone trying to do this, but as a professional home cleaner for 7 years, both normal weekly costumers and deep cleaning for moving house, I can absolutely guarantee that two people couldn’t possibly get this done in 4 work days :P Clutter removal plus bathroom and kitchen with grime that bad, no chance :P Just fixing the wall tiles in such a bathroom is at least 4-6 hours if you want it like new, which is what we see in the after images. I have worked in bathrooms with just ”normal” grime that took me almost a full day to get done. And then all the vacuuming, dusting all the trim :P Realistically for two people you’re probably looking at 100+ work hours for a project like this.

How to make your child a hoarder, lesson one, take their belongings without permission. My daughter has 100+ teddies, I know that is too many, I do. I want to donate a tonne of them but I don't. Every few weeks, I do a clothes donation bag (2 kids, one is a pre teen so we go through clothes all the time), she gives up clothes so easily, she gives up old toys she is too old for, she gives up DVDs, but she will not give up the teddies, YET. I know she will in the future and even if she hasn't seen the teddy in a year, it will still be there so I know I will get her to do it healthily in the future. Taking them without the child having a choice is just plain mean. That poor husband is 99% done and it probably will end in divorce if this continues and that child will beg to judge to live with Daddy if Mummy is so absolutely anal about cleaning.

I love watching these! I am also someone who loves cleaning. When I moved out on my own into my first flat I made the rule to only clean once a week and to change my bed sheets every two weeks otherwise I would just end up cleaning and cleaning and cleaning! Granted by the end of the week my carpets are bitty and my bookshelves have dust on them but it's a really good system for me.

Leslie is just lazy. I’m sick of hearing people use health reasons for not cleaning. Yes if you can’t walk it’s different, but Leslie was just plain lazy. That kitchen floor was beyond disgusting. No excuse for leaving stuff on the floor. To say the cooker and floor can just stay dirty says it all really. Victoria has every reason to be outraged and brutal and she’s completely right and Leslie needed to hear it.

yeah like if she can still walk there’s no reason for her to be discarding used cigarettes all over the floor…she’s just using her health issues as a reason to not clean

Is it me or are the "clean" people really condescending and bitchy? The "dirty" people are more down to earth, although they seriously need to sort there homes out!

Yes, usually it is so. I have a few patients with cleaning disorders, and they are not very down to earth most of the times. Usually they have extreme anxiety and can't enjoy the here and now.

From Judy in Australia 🇦🇺. Regardless, they all live miserable lives. However, the ones living in filth are slightly happier because they have an ability to let it go which means they aren’t obsessed with or frightened of germs like the clean freaks.❤️🇦🇺

@@lesterbock9851 The filthy ones aren't obsessed with it, but they gave up on themselves and their life. Otherwise they wouldn't live like this. They are both miserable, they are just miserable in different ways.

I think victoria was a little bit too mean with lesley. I know what it feels like to be unable to clean. Laziness and inability to do those basic tasks stem from various mental illnesses. I have spurs of cleaning obsessively and then i have times of being unable to clean and everything stacks up

27:45 sleep apnoea is quite common, something that everybody has/does. When the frequency and the duration exceeds normal values that makes it a pathological condition dangerous for patients themselves and others (people can fall asleep while driving for example)... For 50-60% of the patients the solution and first step is to lose weight. If there are other reasons then a pulmonologist should monitor the situation. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I have mild OCD, although I seem to be a little worse since I’ve gotten older, but the one lady who wants her grandkids over, her house is disgusting. I will never understand how people could live like that, let alone laugh about it.

Giving your kids toys away?! WTF is wrong with you? My parents did this once with my favorite stuffed toy without telling me...The result if it was that I a) cried uncontrollably when stressed and nothing could calm me down until my aunt gifted me a same stuffed animal and told me, he was just on vaccation and b) I have a deep distrust whenever they ask me to give them something dear to me...don't do this to kids.

What I can't figure out is, if Louise is so idiotic about stuffed toys being "germ laden," so she constantly gets rid of them (after spending who knows how much on them in the first place!0), then why in the world does she have a LIVE CAT in the house??? That thing is far filthier than those stuffed toys will be in 20 years! They don't stink up the house with their toileting, and they don't shed hair everywhere. A stinking cat does that, as well as bringing dead things inside, if it's one that's let out even once!
