Then season 2 rolls in and you want to hug the guy and keep him around whenever shit goes sideways.

The hate they give Pete is genuinely one of the funniest gags in the show mostly cuz after you realize Petes a genuinely okay guy. they hate him cuz hes a normal guy who is not as deeply fucked up as the rest of them are.

I like the brief scenes of conversation between Carmy and Richie. Shows it's not just tension between them. They sometimes fight and they sometime get along. Just like real people.

That little one shot of Tina burning her sauce, throwing it in the sink, taking a moment, and walking back to find Sydney already replaced it. Then her tasting it later and immediately understanding how good it is and showing that hint of respect. That's when I knew this show was going from pretty good to legendary greatness.

I like how Mikey and Papa Bearzutto are addressed in this episode. You find out that if Carmy has no memory of their dad, then Mikey had that man of house responsibility for a really long time. Also sounds like Mikey and their dad were a lot like, both had a lot of big ideas they couldn't execute. The convo between Uncle Jimmy and Richie was needed. It's like Uncle Jimmy treats Richie the way he should have treated Mikey, in a guilt by association kinda way...

I'm a simple man. I see James reacting to The Bear - I click right away.

People on twitter were perplexed as to why this show won best comedy at the Emmy’s this year and I wonder if we were even watching the same thing. So happy to see you laugh so much this episode

Right? People are trying to argue that it can’t be a comedy just because it deals with dark topics. Like, a lot of the comedy is the interaction between characters outside of the dark topics like addiction, suicide, and trauma, and regardless, a lot of people deal with the bad times by finding the absurdity and humor, and in that way, the show is super validating!

There’s so many layers of comedy from the facial expressions, the setting, the delivery and timing of the dialogue, I mean that fight with the inflatable hot dog makes me die every time. Then Richie says “I’ll get the spare from the basement”. Then, that same inflatable dog is at the party with a shirt taped onto it. The beautiful composition of humor with realism and darkness is stunning. This is probably an underrated episode but one of my favorites in season one.

Uncle Jimmy convo about Carmy's dad made me understand why he gave Mikey the money.

Honestly there are some amazing standout episodes filled with some really wild parts later on in this show, especially in season 2, but this is probably my favorite episode in terms of capturing what this show does well on a regular basis. Nothing too crazy, but just casually perfect from top to bottom, so organic in how the characters interact and how their bonds develop.

Carmy: Don’t kill me. Cicero: Oh I can’t wait for this 😂 Such an underrated exchange

It honestly feels so relaing when Carmy and Richie get along. It's like you get to breathe.

When Richie first tasted the punch and says “rest in peace, Harold…” one of the funniest jokes I’ve ever heard on television. Serious levels to that one. I think Richies just sets the pill bottle on the prep table and Carm accidentally pushes everything into the jug.

I think it was more that Tina felt Sidney wouldn't think highly of her because of her lack of schooling than it was about a compliment. I think she suprised herself and probably didn't think much of her work prior to having that validation from someone like Sidney. Sometimes that's all it takes to motivate someone. Too bad we can't always just find it within ourselves.

This episode, especially the sleeping kids and Tina and Syndey starting to like each other are what made me realize I really liked this show..

So happy your enjoying this. It truly is a gem amongst all this other fodder strewn everywhere. I wonder how long of a leash these actors were given within the dialog cause I'm kind of guessing it was pretty long? Also congrats to The Bear for picking up Emmys for Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Comedy Director Outstanding lead actor in a comedy - Jeremy Allen White Outstanding supporting actor in a Comedy- Ebon Moss-Bachrach Outstanding supporting actress in a Comedy - Ayo Edibri Although not sure how much balance leans towards a Comedy but maybe done so for embellished Emmy spots. Such a great show and it's only just beginning to blossom into its greatness.

Aside from the incredible writing and dramatic choices, this show has so many little moments where the performers are either super into the scene and/or the directing is really just that good: the characters reacting to Marcus bringing in family dessert is just perfect; Carmy is nearly wiped out and beleaguered, but his gaze is locked and dragged with the tray of cake and ice cream… and he’s probably more interested in how Marcus did than actually enjoying the sweets

So hard to pick one aspect of this show. Love the writing, acting, editing and soundtrack. Like a great recipe each item adds to the complexity of the tasty dish.❤️‍🔥

One of the best things about working in a restaurant is family meal. I used to work in a steak in pasta place in my late teens. There are no set breaks or lunches because of customer flow, so before we would open the doors for service we would all sit down for family meal together. We would try out new dishes or just do staff favorites. Good memories.

idk I’m only on episode 4 rn too but I thought Tina had a problem with Sydney because she’s a woman (and a young one at that) telling her what to do in a job that’s mostly male dominated, so she probably felt really challenged by her. But when she got her approval that’s when she realized she wasn’t actually a threat. I could be completely wrong tho lol
