FILIPINO TINIKLING Traditional DANCE that will BLOW your MIND! - (You NEED to WATCH This!)

Ойын-сауық

Tinikling is a traditional Philippine folk dance which originated during the Spanish colonial era...
The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. It is traditionally danced to rondalla music, a sort of serenade played by an ensemble of stringed instruments which originated in Spain during the Middle Ages.

There are Sooooo many traditional dances tat as kids in school, we get to perform in at one school event or another. These can be a treat if you can feature them. There's Maglalatik, Sayaw sa Bangko, Binasuan Kuratsa, Itik-Itik, Cariñosa, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, and so many others like those coming from up North North of the Philippines where Igorots dance during their Kanyaw. There are also traditional dances from the Visayas and down South in Mindanao.

The Traditional Dance (Folk dance) is a country dance. This dance is performed by peasants. Most of this country dances are really difficult. However, the most difficult part is not only the moments and choreographies but also the essence that while performing these dance you must smile and enjoy it. Because country dances are mostly performed by peasants after harvest or during fiestas. Eg. Tinikling, sausage sa bangko, pandanggo sa ilaw and many more. In addition, there is also called a royal traditional dance. This dances are performed by the elite Filipino during Spanish colinization. It is more modest and elegant than fun looking. Eg. Cariñosa and many more

Students nowadays in higher elementary or grade school year levels and most especially in junior and senior high school levels do have some classes and lessons in Philippine folk, tribal, indigenous, and traditional dances, and practiced to dance Tinikling at some point in their schooling. This is a part of dance classes, lessons, module, or unit within the Physical Education component of the larger MAPEH school subject. MAPEH is a a single school subject of four combined subjects or components of Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health.

Please Try Singkil too, I'm from Thailand but I'm amazed by the Singkil dance! It's a Muslim Dance from the Maranao People from Mindanao, Philippines and I'm sure your gonna love it. The costumes, the, the facial expressions, the posture and the choreography itself.

the man on the first video actually shared the inspiration where the tinikling dance came about. The "TIKLING" birds were in abundance in Leyte and people got inspired to make a dance that mimic how the tikling birds hop and walk.

"Tinikling" dance originated fm the name of a local bird called "Tikling". It is a long-legged bird that lives mostly on the ground within bamboo thickets. I grew up in the province and often encountered this bird. It can run fast and nimbly over dried fallen bamboo stalks. The dance is of Tagalog region origin.
