Sabah, Malaysia was once part of the Philippine territory, and so, there are still a lot of Muslim Filipinos living there today. My friends and I visited Kota Kinabalu a few years back and it was so refreshing to visit to a country where you can speak Tagalog freely anywhere. During our island hopping, we were the only Filipinos in the group (the rest were Chinese and Koreans) and the Filipino tour guide asked us: "Why are you here? We have more beautiful beaches back home!" :) So true, nothing compares, in all modesty.

Well you should be ashamed when that Filipino guy asked you that. That's the problem with Filipinos with some money to spend travelling. Instead of exploring their own country, they chose to explore other countries. Help the country by touring and exploring our own beautiful places here.

There is a part of Hinatuan Enchanted River where swimming's prohibited because of erosion and it's roped off. The rest is ok to bathe in and explore. It's not only the river that people come to see but the over-all surroundings and forest cover are magical as well. It's a very well-maintained sanctuary. It's my favorite of these '7 wonders'.

zambales hiking trails very underrated. After mount pinatubo blew, they changed the lanscaped which blows my mind when i see it now its perfect for overlanding adventures. Also if you can rent a motorcycles, the drive through mountains of Baguio is one of the best and it gets cooler as you up the mountains. Alaminos city is my hometown. The hundred Island i must say no matter many times you go there is always something new in those islands.

Chocolate Hills is called such not because it’s made of chocolate but because of its color. In the rainy season, the grass blanketing the hills in the Philippines gives them a soft and lush appearance. While in the summer, the vegetation dies off and turns to a chocolatey brown hue, giving them the name Bohol Chocolate Hills.

There are many co-species of lionfish, zebrafish, firefish, and turkeyfish, of the Pterois genus. They are native in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean but invasive to the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean. They are normally encountered in the Philippines and the other local species are not at risk from them.

Yah lionfish are invasive species that spread so quick that some people get paid to hunt them since they decimate the aquatic habitat that also help maintain the reefs. In Florida I think they get paid $5-$6 a pound. They usually use spears to catch them and it doesn’t matter if they’re killed or not. They will make fillets out of them and supposedly they are delicious. I haven’t tried so I can’t confirm that.

The lionfish is a native species in the Philippines or specifically the Indo-Pacific... what happened in other countries' oceans like in the Atlantic is that some irresponsible pet owners could've released the lionfish into the waters they do not belong to, thus making them an invasive species there. The Pacific is home to so many animals immune to its toxin, whilst in the Atlantic, only a few like the murray eels which also live in the Pacific, could prey on the lionfish.
