FILE the Ulanzi OA-16 to fit your DJI Osmo Action 4
I'm convinced the best accessory for the DJI Action 4 potentially is the Ulanzi OA-16.
So when I saw a recent Amazon deal on the Ulanzi OA-16 Magnetic Replacement Door for the DJI Action 4 along with an OA-19 cold shoe mount, I had to buy another set! But seeing as I suspected it wouldn't fit, I also bought a FILE set to make it! Here are my results!

Now that’s how you do it :D On a funny note: if somebody told 20 year old me that in 30 years I would spend my evening watching a person on the other side of the globe file down a camera door in a video they filmed and published themselves that anyone could watch whenever they want, basically for free, I would probably have died laughing …

Ha, I hear ya! 30 years ago I was already watching video game streams. It was called sitting in your best friends living room watching them play Nintendo and never getting a turn.

@@WayneRECs Hahaha :) Yeah, back in 87-93 my friends used to come over and sit in my room and watch each other play games on the C64 and Amiga, like text adventures where you typed in commands and stuff, and shouting and swearing, but taking turns though - good times :)

I'm surprised he didn't mention this modification in his previous video of the accessory. I had just used a Dremel, and not a file months ago when I was doing this for personal amusement.
Picked up the same battery door off of eBay and noticed this too late. If I may ask, when I go and try this myself, are you filing for depth or are you filing the edges of the lip to fit that smaller insert? It’s kinda hard to tell in the video. Appreciate any advice!
Nice "click" on that door latch after you worked it over! Maybe next you can tackle how to make an external monitor work with the DJI Action 4 while it is in a 3rd party cage. I have a hard time seeing either built-in screen. So maybe a USB-C to HDMI adapter?
Wonder why there was a photo that showed that there was one for an action 4 but where is it on the market to purchase? I got the 1 you filed for 5.95 on Amazon but havent filed my yet. Only thing tho the camera wont be water proof now, no seal like the plastic original door has.

I suspect the current iteration of the OA-16 has been discounted to move existing stock and that Ulanzi has modified their next batch to be notched to fit the Action 4 with no modification.
I ordered the same door, I And my plan is the same as yours. Unfortunately I am in Cuba right now, so not so easy to by files like in this in the shop 😅 So I’m searching for an Mecanico who kan lent me one. But, do you think it’ll effect the waterproof???

Well, it will definitely affect the waterproofing as the Ulanzi OA-16 isn't a waterproof door. It has a foam pad to help keep the battery seating properly, but there are no gaskets to seal the batter compartment.
