I always loved the training montage in this film, the contrast of older techniques vs modern, artificial ways of training for a boxing match - old vs new. The mixture of the filming and the elevation and the crescendo of the music to match what was onscreen was masterful. This is one of my favourite sequences of film of all time and I saw this in the cinema when it was released in the UK - a very special moment for me that I have never forgotten.

Rocky realistically, would’ve been killed by Drago. Apollo may have been older but Rocky and him had a lot in common as fighters. The difference is Stallone being older and getting Hulk Hogan style strength to gain victory over his opponents. Mr.T’s fight on the other hand was just as a dominating performance for Rocky the 2nd time around.

That crushing right punch by Rocky at the 8:55 mark of the video was a cinematic masterpiece. I remembered the reaction of movie fans inside the theater when watching that movie way back in 1985. Half the audience inside the theater collectively stood up and starting cheering. It was almost if we were all watching a live closed-circuit boxing match at the theater which was a popular feature on watching championship fights back in the day. An old lady wearing a knit sweater sitting in front of us stood up and started shadow boxing during that scene and yelled out loud "Knock his block off!" Fun moments.

The entire thing was a glam show for Creed.. It was an exhibition match. And it was supposed to be a massive form of entertainment. But nope.. Creed got bodied and from a deleted scene.. It was hinted that it was kind of planned.. As nikolai told drago something, which made drago look at him in a very irritated but subtle manner.

Dolph Lungren actually looks like he knows how to fight…..Carl weathers also look pretty good in his fight scenes too, but you could tell he wasn’t a boxer. Dolph was a karate world champion and had experience in multiple martial arts so he is the most believable. Stallone also a great athlete but he makes the fight scenes too unrealistic for me, getting constantly smashed in the face, should’ve shown some slipping and dodging in the choreography imo.

Drago would have destroyed Stallone I agree it’s very unrealistic how Stallone could withstand his punches let alone Apollo creed. Mind you he did put Stallone in hospital as he wanted the fight scenes to look realistic. In an interview he said he was hit by dolph that hard that he said he felt like he was hit by a car impact caused swelling to his heart he was in intensive care for two weeks.

apollo did not have a chance he was clearly outmatched by Drago. It is very obvious that Ivan Drago would easily beat apollo creed. apollo was running his big mouth but was clueless what he was facing against the very powerful Drago.

True but appollo was retired and waaaaay past his prime. He also didn’t take the fight seriously, it was an exhibition match. Apollo from Rocky 2 who was actually serious would definitely perform a lot better, Drago could still likely win but it would be a good fight
