Great job STEVE thanks to you guys at PICO. One thing to mention is try AC coupling the fuel press sen. to really see pressure changes All the best

Nice analysis Steve. Scanner Danner started a bit of myth about pintle humps years ago! I've never seen one that convinced me either. I put them in Bigfoot/Lockness monster/new parts are always good category. If that engine is one of those nasty "wet belt" 3 cyls the petrol in the oil could make that silly belt shred faster than normal.....and shredding seems a "feature" of such designs. The 123 firing order is why they have to use jelly as engine mounts to hide all the wobblyness NVH! Jamie

Fuel injector balance test will find that immediately. Apply Fuel pressure to rail and then pulse injector for a known time, watch the pressure drop. Used to be called Fuel pressure drop.

Interesting stuff... If the injector was stuck open, why did we seem to still see the pintle returning to seat and why can we still hear ANY #2 clicking? I'm wondering if the injector pintle is damaged or its seat is damaged?

Andrea, I have the same question, and also the same positive comments. A Google search suggests the stethoscope is not a product you can buy - at least, not yet anyway. The screw thread in the accelerometer is 1/4” x 28 UNF. I made my own mounting magnets using some bolts I bought on ebay. You could easily make a similar stethoscope using a 1/4” x 28 UNF thread, perhaps with a lock-nut and a suitable pick-up rod. If Steve doesn’t reply in a few days, I will email him and ask him a bout the stethoscope and let you know the answer.

@@andykaw1 I’m sorry, Andrea: I realise English is not your first language and I might have misunderstood you. Hopefully, I can now explain it better to you. Firstly, Steve was using the NVH hardware/kit along with the NVH Pico software in PicoScope 7. . (Do a Google search for Pico NVH Starter Diagnostic Kit, for example., ) I was presuming you had the full NVH kit. . But, unless you also have an NVH kit, this information is of no use to you. Does that make sense? Do you have an NVH kit, or a TA143 and a TA259?

You must have the NVH kit to do what Steve was doing with his stethoscope.

1/4” x 28 UNF is the size of the screw thread in the accelerometer, but, without the NVH kit, this information is of no use to you.

Hello, good morning, I am contacting you, to be able to comment on the following situation that occurs in my vehicle, it was presenting an electronic problem, without knowing I changed the battery, and nothing, I went on to change the alternator regulator, and well, I I bought, it charges over 14.5V, and I considered the fault finished, one day cleaning the interior, I left the radio on, while I cleaned, and nothing after a few minutes, the voltage began to drop, less to less, until that the battery discharged at that moment, I was surprised because that had never happened to it, I did another test, with the battery charged again, I gave the contact, after a short time, equal to less than less, that in a moment the battery goes, I recharge it, install it, and leave it connected for approximately 2 months, until I realized that the red alarm light was not flashing, I checked it and discharged, that did not happen in the past either, did the current leakage test with the multimeter, because I told myself what And this would have to be a current leak, it is the logical thing to think, and what was my surprise, that the value it gave is 0.02, with the battery just charged, so there is no current leak, and then what is happening to you?, I have explained everything to you with hairs and bones, to see if you could help me determine the cause, because I do not understand it nor do I know what else to do, regarding what I am explaining to you, I await your prompt clarification, please, greetings.
